Brown House Family Church Service

Coming together as a community fosters unity and strength, and creates a sense of belonging and shared purpose, enhancing social bonds and overall well-being. Last Sunday, the Brown House family church service gave our students an opportunity to come together at the Orange Uniting Church to celebrate with Reverend Cunningham through scripture, prayer and song. During the service we learnt about the importance of inclusion of all people in our community and how our actions can impact on others to feel, a timely message as we look to recognise Harmony Day this week. Following the church service, we were able to connect with others over a warm cup of tea and we look forward to our Douglas family church service on Sunday 23 June, 2024.

Harmony Day

Harmony Day celebrates diversity, inclusion, and respect for all cultures and backgrounds. Observed annually on 21 March, it promotes understanding and acceptance within communities. Originating in Australia in 1999, it has since gained global recognition. Participants wear orange to symbolise social harmony and unity. Through cultural performances, discussions, and educational activities, Harmony Day fosters a sense of belonging and mutual respect. It underscores the importance of embracing differences and working together to create a harmonious society. By celebrating diversity, Harmony Day promotes peace and cooperation, reminding us that despite our differences, we are united in our humanity.

This week, the Junior School will recognise Harmony Day, an initiative spearheaded by the Student Representative Council (SRC). Embracing this occasion, the SRC encourages students to ponder inclusivity, respect, and fostering a shared sense of belonging for all, principles closely aligned with our school's core values. Throughout the day, students will participate in activities aimed at cultivating understanding and reverence for diverse cultures. Harmony Day serves as a platform for promoting unity and appreciation of our collective diversity, reinforcing the importance of empathy and cultural awareness.

Kinross Wolaroi students making their mark

At Kinross Wolaroi we value and strive for academic rigour. Students have a myriad of opportunities to engage in enriching learning experiences which in some instances the school provides or facilitates student access to them. Please share with us your child’s interest, passions, and achievements by emailing junioroffice@kws.nsw.edu.au

Futsal

Last year students from Kinross Wolaroi Junior School signed up to participate in the local Orange Futsal competition. This gave many of our students the opportunity to play in a sport that they wouldn’t normally, and it also helped them maintain their fitness levels over the summer. I was personally impressed with the speed of the game and the level of skill and precision required. Pictured below are students who participated. They are to be congratulated on their conduct and involvement in this fun sport.
