National Ride2School Day – Friday 22 March

FPS is excited to be celebrating National Ride2School Day on Friday 22 March. We encourage all students and their families to leave the car at home and give riding, walking, scooting, or skating to school a go.

Why Ride2School (on Friday and beyond)?

  • It is recommended that children get 60 minutes of physical activity every day, and riding a bike to school is an easy and fun way to help reach this target.
  • It’s a great way for parents to spend quality time with their children.
  • Riding, walking, skating, or scooting to school can help build confidence.
  • Riding to school helps children develop an awareness of road safety and the environment around them.
  • Being active on the school journey has an impact on concentration. A Danish study has shown that children who walk or ride to school display improved concentration.
  • Active transport is good for the environment! For every kilometre of active travel 243.8 grams of carbon emissions are saved. On National Ride2School Day 2023, students across Australia saved 29 tonnes of CO2 by actively travelling to school – the equivalent of planting 202 trees.

We look forward to seeing both our bike sheds full of bikes and scooters on the day.
