Dear Parents, Carers, and Students,
Today we celebrated the occasion of Harmony Day, a day that holds a special place in the heart of our school community. Harmony Day is a time when we come together to embrace our diverse cultural backgrounds, languages, and traditions. It's a day where we celebrate the rich tapestry of cultures that make up our school, fostering a sense of belonging and understanding among our students and staff.
It was so wonderful to see children wearing traditional dress and sharing proudly about their cultures. Across the school, students learnt how to say the word ‘hello’ in different languages and researched Australians from multicultural backgrounds who promote inclusivity and harmony.
One of the most exciting part of the day was the drumming incursion in the hall where all students got to play a drum and experience rhythms from Asia, Africa, the Middle East and the Pacific. It was a wonderful way for students to enjoy the language of music and its ability to unite people from different parts of the world.
At St Margaret Mary’s, we firmly believe that diversity is our strength and Harmony Day provides us with the perfect opportunity to celebrate this strength. By embracing diversity and promoting harmony, we create a welcoming and supportive environment where every individual feels valued and respected. We would also like to thank our parent community for the support that give by promoting inclusivity, respect and acceptance of all cultures.
Tomorrow, we will celebrate Wellbeing Day by wearing mufti and participating in activities across the school.
Thank you for your ongoing support in promoting harmony and inclusivity at StMM’s.
Warm regards,
Melina James
