Parents and Carers,

As we approach the sacred time of Holy Week, it is essential to reflect on the significant events that mark this profound period in the Christian calendar. Holy Week, which begins with Palm Sunday and culminates on Easter Sunday, holds great importance for our Catholic faith and serves as a cornerstone of our school's identity.

Palm Sunday commemorates Jesus' triumphant entry into Jerusalem, where crowds welcomed Him with palm branches. This event symbolizes the beginning of Holy Week and reminds us of Jesus' humility and the importance of welcoming Him into our lives.

Holy Thursday recalls the Last Supper, where Jesus shared bread and wine with His disciples, instituting the sacrament of the Eucharist. This day emphasises the significance of community, service, and the institution of the priesthood.

Good Friday marks the crucifixion of Jesus Christ, highlighting His sacrifice for humanity's salvation. It is a day of solemn reflection, penance, and gratitude for Christ's ultimate act of love.

Holy Saturday is a time of waiting and anticipation, symbolising the period between Christ's death and resurrection. It invites us to contemplate the mystery of death and the hope of new life.

Easter Sunday celebrates the resurrection of Jesus Christ, signifying victory over sin and death. It is a joyous occasion that reminds us of the promise of eternal life and the hope that springs from Christ's resurrection.

As a Catholic school, these events are not just historical moments but opportunities for spiritual growth, reflection, and connection to our faith. By engaging with Holy Week traditions and teachings, we aim to nurture a deep sense of Catholic identity in our students, fostering values such as compassion, forgiveness, and love.

During this Holy Week, let us encourage our children to participate in the various services that take place in the Church, reflect on the significance of these events, and embody the teachings of Jesus in their daily lives. Let us embrace this sacred time with reverence and gratitude for the gift of faith that unites us.

May this Holy Week be a time of renewal, grace, and blessings for you and your family.

Yours in faith,

Nancy Kubti
