Principal's Message

Ms Grace Carlo-Stella

Dear Parents and Carers,

Holy Week is one of the most significant periods in the Christian calendar, especially for Catholics. It commemorates the final week of Jesus Christ's life, including his crucifixion on Good Friday and his resurrection on Easter Sunday. For Catholics, Holy Week holds immense spiritual importance as it represents the culmination of Jesus' sacrifice for humanity's redemption and the promise of salvation.

Central to the Catholic faith is the belief in love, compassion, and forgiveness, all of which shape the events of Holy Week. The crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus Christ symbolises the ultimate act of love and sacrifice, emphasising the importance of treating others with respect and kindness. As Catholics, it is not only essential to reflect on the significance of Holy Week but also to embody its teachings in our daily lives.

When it comes to day to day life, instilling these values of respect, compassion, and empathy is paramount. Students learn not only from what they are taught in the classroom but also from the behaviour and actions of the adults in their lives. As role models, parents, teachers and school staff play a crucial role in shaping students' attitudes and behaviours towards others.

By demonstrating respect and kindness in our interactions, we create a positive learning environment where these values are not just taught but also practised. Modelling respectful communication, active listening, and empathy fosters a culture of understanding and acceptance within the community.

In essence, Holy Week serves as a reminder of the values of love, compassion, and forgiveness that lie at the heart of the Catholic faith. Integrating these principles into our lives ensures that students not only excel academically but also grow into compassionate and respectful individuals who contribute positively to society. By modelling these values and fostering independence, educators and parents play a crucial role in shaping the next generation of empathetic and responsible citizens.

In the next newsletter, term two dates will be published and changes that are taking place in teaching and learning at St Margaret Mary’s commencing in term two will be highlighted.

As we approach the Easter break, I hope that you will have the opportunity to spend time with your children and create special memories together. Whether it's through Easter egg hunts, family dinners, attending the Easter masses or other activities, I hope that you will have a chance to relax and enjoy the Easter break.

I wish you and your family a happy Easter, may the risen Lord bring peace and new beginnings in your everyday lives.

Kind Regards,

Grace
