Principal News

Dear Sacred Heart Community

Prayer

On behalf of our staff, I would like to wish you all a safe and relaxing break. I hope the coming days give you the opportunity to enjoy some quality family time. Can I thank you all for your support of our school during this first term. I would like to take this opportunity to acknowledge our 2024 Foundation class for the way they have embraced school life. In nine short weeks they are already leaving a great legacy.

Celebrating Holy Week

As we commemorate the final events of Holy Week leading to Easter Sunday, this morning our Year Five and Six students washed the feet of their Year Foundation buddies, just as Jesus did for his disciples at the Last Supper. During today, our students have travelled the journey Jesus took before he was crucified, by following the Stations of the Cross which have been presented with powerful Indigenous images. Thank you to Kate and all our staff who have allowed as all to reflect upon the events of Holy Week.

Hot Cross Buns

In a magnificent effort all our hot cross buns were sold earlier this week. Thank you to our families who supported this effort by buying and donating some money. This great initiative has raised $756. A big thank you to the Haley family for your donation of the hot cross buns. Dessy and Mark we are truly grateful.

Easter Raffle

Thank you for your generous support of our Easter Raffle which has raised $289.60. Congratulations to our winners:

Parents and Friends News

The Parents and Friends Group had a meeting on Tuesday to help prepare for the Easter Raffle, put final details together for next term's Mother's Day Stall and to book a date for our biennial Dinner Dance. Thank you to all who were able to attend. The dinner dance has been tentatively booked for Friday 22nd November. I will apply for the council grant which gives us the use of the council hall with no charge (approximately $1,000). Further details will be given next term about this event, arguably the biggest event our Parents and Friends organise.

After School/Before School Protocols

As indicated in last week's newsletter, I would like to reinforce an after school protocol that ensures are students are safely supervised. I ask that only those students who are accompanied by their parents and careers move out into the playground and over to the adventure playground. I see this opportunity for parents to socialise as an important part of community. Please be aware however that you are responsible for the safety of your children.

Students who are awaiting their parents are not to move out into the yard beyond the multi purpose room. At the moment some students awaiting their parents are playing in the yard beyond the multi purpose room and are therefore not supervised.

Of a morning only our Foundation students are allowed on the adventure playground. I am happy to supervise them and this again gives our new parents the opportunity to catch up for a chat.

Good Samaritan Awards

Congratulations to our recipients of the Good Samaritan Award presented at last week's assembly:

Emmett (Year Foundation)      Savanah (Year One)             Madelyn (Year Two)                       Vlami  (Year Two)                   Jasmine (Year Five)                   Fortunato (Year Six)                                                                          Harper (Year Six)

Container Deposit Scheme

Pictured below is our first collection of recyclable containers as part of the CDS. A big thanks to Gauri and Sunny (parents of Veer) who are collecting these bins and taking them to their business in Reservoir which is an accredited collection point. I will let our community know how much four bins equates to in terms of money for our school. The most important thing is however, the positive decisions each person has made to help our precious environment.

Yours Sincerely

Mark
