Holiday reading on the Sora app

The EDSC Library will ensure students keep reading throughout the holidays thanks to our eBook and audiobook collection on the Sora app.

Sora is full of new and classic fiction, non-fiction, graphic novels, and manga that can be borrowed 24/7 on laptops, tablets and phones.

The EDSC Library has produced instructions for students to customise Sora to improve accessibility. Students can also learn how to link their Sora app to public libraries, instantly increasing the range of eBooks and audiobooks they can read.

Sora instructions can be downloaded at this link.

Students should make sure to enter any eBooks and audiobooks they read during the holidays into the EDSC Reading Challenge.

EDSC Reading Challenge off to an impressive start

EDSC students have already entered 858 books into this year’s EDSC Reading Challenge.

Nearly 200 students from across all year levels have so far entered books, with Year 7 students especially doing a fantastic job of their reading.

Congratulations to Emma of 7J who was the first EDSC student to read and verify 15 books. Emma was awarded a book prize for being the first to complete the Reading Challenge at EDSC.

This year students and staff can enter all the books they read from January 1 until September 4 into the Reading Challenge Google Form.

Students can read ANY books they like (excluding children's picture books). Students can read graphic novels, manga, English class novels, books in another language, poetry, non-fiction, eBooks, audiobooks, and more!

There are plenty of prizes on offer throughout the year, including books, book vouchers, and canteen vouchers. Any student who reads and verifies 15 books will be invited to our end of year pizza party and will receive a certificate and EDSC house points.

All details are on our Reading Challenge webpage.
