U15s Netball Selections, Primary Winter Trials (Netball, Football and League)
On Wednesday 6 March, five of our secondary girls travelled to the U15s Girls Netball Trials in Armidale. Our team played three matches and made St Philomena's proud with their excellent sportsmanship, communication and teamwork. Two of our students, Haylie Turner and Meg Cooper, were selected to play in the Possibles vs Probables match. They played their hearts out and this resulted in Haylie Turner being selected as one of the ten girls who will go on to represent the Armidale Diocese in Sydney at the NSWCCC U15 Girls Netball Selection. Congratulations to Haylie on this incredible achievement, and well done to our team!
On Friday 8th March, selected St Philomena's students travelled to Tamworth to compete in the Diocesan Winter Trials. Despite the heat, our girls played extremely well showcasing their Netball skills in five games. A special mention to Mel Schweitzer for her contribution in managing and selecting students on the day. We are extremely proud of Anges Tighe who played exceptionally well and was selected in the Diocese Netball team, congratulations. Well done everyone!
On the same day, selected boys and girls travelled to Tamworth fields to take part in the Diocesan Winter Trials. What a fantastic day it was with students participating in a skills session to start the day and then a number of games to demonstrate their talent. Congratulations to Bruce Antees and Matilda Ward who were selected to represent the Diocese at the Polding Trials. Outstanding!
The final sport in the Primary Winter Trials is Rugby League. We had selected boys to represent St Philomena's and compete against students in our Armidale Diocese to trial for a place in the Dio team. With some superb footy, lots of encouragement and sportsmanship we are excited to announce that Richie Smith has been selected and will compete at the Polding Trials. Congratulations!
This year NSWPSSA have provided a direct pathway for Boys to trial for Netball. This means boys will no longer be allowed to trial for Netball at the Armidale Diocesan Trials held on Friday 8th March 2024. All boys interested in playing Netball will go directly to the NSWPSSA trials, locations listed on the flyer attached.
If you have any boys interested in trialling for Netball parents are to make contact with Heidi Hardaker directly via email (hlebrocq@arm.catholic.edu.au) or phone (02 6772 7388) to discuss.
