Brooke's Message

Friday 20th September 2024,

Dear Families,

Can you believe another term has flown by? It's been a whirlwind of laughter, learning, and always a few unexpected surprises.

As we wrap up another term, I'm delighted to reflect on the progress and achievements of our students. This term has been filled with exciting learning opportunities, both in the classroom and out in the community.

R U OK Day

Last week we acknowledged R U OK day as a whole school. It was amazing to see the care and compassion amongst staff and students making time to check in with each other.  As a school, our students wore yellow and made cards which they hand delivered to all of our staff. I loved my socks and beautiful cards.

Car parks & roadworks

I would like to take a moment to update you on parent pick up and drop off processes for term 4. The roadworks will continue, and I understand this has increased the traffic and travel time for some of you. If you are dropping off late or picking up early, please ensure you allow a little extra time. I understand parking is very hard to find each day. If your child has a seat on the bus please take advantage of this service, it is the easiest most reliable way of getting your child to and from school. If you drive your child to school, please make use of the driveway service from 9am and 3pm each day through Gate 1 – the first gate on the slip lane.  Please do not park in Gate 4 unless you have a prior arrangement with our leadership team. These spaces are needed for students with mobility needs. We will be closing these gates every morning and afternoon to reduce the risks we are seeing.

Fresh food ‘snack’ program

Next term we will be introducing a snack program provided by the school. Each classroom will receive a platter of cut up fresh in season fruits and vegetables, and other snacks like dried fruit, rice crackers and corn cakes each day. The aim of the program is to support families with the provision of food as well as covering many of the students Individual Learning Goals like communication and social interactions.  This program will look different from class to class, more information will come out early next term.

2025

2025 is fast approaching and this means we will start looking at class groups.

Finally, I want to thank our dedicated staff who have worked tirelessly to create engaging and supportive learning environments. They have tried to implement innovative teaching strategies that cater to the diverse needs of our students and foster a love of learning, despite the ongoing staffing shortages we face and significant illness that have affected our team.

We're also so grateful for the ongoing support of our parents and carers. Your involvement in your child's education is essential to their success. Thank you for your continued partnership.

As we look forward to the next term, we're excited about the opportunities that lie ahead. We are committed to providing a high-quality education that prepares our students for a bright future.

Have a great break, hopefully with some sleep ins, fun, rest and relaxation.

Be safe and enjoy

Best wishes

Brooke
