First Nations School Shirt Presentation

On Thursday 5th of September we held the Presentation of our First Nations school shirts.  This has been a project that originated from the initial First Nations Leadership meeting we held with our First Nations students in term one.  The students worked with Neva Takele to develop a design that used symbols and totems that related to our students.  During the time that the students worked on this project we saw their self-esteem and pride grow and it was wonderful to see this culminate on the day as we unveiled the final product.  The students will wear their shirts on cultural incursions and excursions and on culturally significant days.

It was wonderful to see so many family members attend to share in the student's excitement.

We would like to thank Neva for her creativity and passion, Rochester Community House for providing the finances to make this project a reality and our VET Hospitality students for providing a lovely morning tea.
