Welcome back to term 4. We hope you all had a restful break. We are looking forward to an exciting term of learning opportunities and experiences.
STUDENT PLACEMENT 2025 - Please complete Google form (sent by Compass Newsfeed) by November 1st
During Term 4, our class teachers undergo the process of assigning students for the 2025 school year. Your children will be asked to nominate their 5 preferred learning partners, with a minimum of one learning partner guaranteed for their 2025 class. The current year's teachers will create class lists for the following year, taking into account various factors such as:
- Ensuring a mix of students along the curriculum achievement spectrum
- Considering social and emotional needs of students
- Taking into account existing friendships
- Providing support to ensure that all students are valued and supported to fully participate, learn and develop and succeed
- Maintaining a gender balance in each class
- Addressing any other relevant individual needs
In line with our school's approach, parent requests based on the educational, social, and emotional needs of your child will be carefully reviewed on a case-by-case basis. Please fill in the google form to make your request.
If you require any support with completing the Google form, please come to the office and we will be happy to assist you.
Last Saturday evening The Parents and Friends Committee hosted an 80's Trivia night. It was a great night, testing our trivia knowledge, drawing and singing skills. Our auction items were a hit, with fierce competition for the Principal for a Day item. We look forward to having Mr Matthew Maroney be a part of our leadership team for the day. I have spoken to Matthew, and he is looking forward to this amazing opportunity to learn about leadership.
A special thank you to Erin Cotsford for organising such a fun filled night, and to all the parents who assisted with decorating and organising prizes.
We were thrilled to attend the musical Gypsy last weekend to see our very own Jasmine Bishop perform in a lead role. Jasmine even played the Ukulele as part of her role. Congratulations Jasmine! Thank you to Mrs. Rassias and Mrs Keep for joining me on the day.
Medication
All medication needs to be given to the office at the start of the day. This includes any hay fever medication, sprays or headache tablets. Parents are required to fill in a medication form (as required by DET) so that any medication can be administered correctly.
Complaints policy update
At our last School Council meeting we ratified the Complaints policy. This purpose of this policy is to outline the complaints process, how members of the school community can raise issues or concerns and to ensure that all complaints and concerns regarding Donvale Primary School are managed in a fair, timely, effective and respectful manner.
All the staff at Donvale Primary School are happy to discuss with parents, carers and school community members any concerns that they may have. Concerns in the first instance should be directed to your child's teacher or Year Level co-ordinator, then the Assistant Principal or Principal, Mrs Vesdrevanis.
Warm regards
Mrs Larissa Vesdrevanis Mrs Michelle Rassias
