Nihao, Hello, Everyone!

Welcome back to Term 4! This term, students will continue learning Mandarin and enjoying a variety of fun activities, as outlined below, through new topics.

FOUNDATION:

In Term 4, students will be introduced to the topic of Fruit, building on the colour words and expressions learned in Term 3. They will further develop their oral and conversational skills through this new topic. A new Chinese song called The Fruit Song will be taught to help students learn fruit vocabulary. Additionally, memory and matching games will be played.

Grade 1/2:

This term, students will focus on developing their conversational skills. They will be introduced to the topic of Telling the Time and My Daily Life. Students will also strengthen their understanding of Chinese grammar and expand their vocabulary, integrating previously learned concepts with new transport-related words. Classroom activities will include memory and matching games, as well as making paper clocks.

Grade 3/4:

Students will explore the topic of Transport, expanding on their previously acquired knowledge of Chinese grammar and vocabulary. Ten different types of transport will be introduced, with an emphasis on using these words in sentences to enhance comprehension and communication. Short role plays will be conducted in class, and students will have the opportunity to explore China's public transport system as well.

Year 5/6:

This term, students will study Weather & Weather Changes, in alignment with the extreme weather conditions we have experienced in recent years in Australia. They will learn nine different weather-related terms in sentence form, along with four-time expressions across different tenses. The topic will be supported by a beautiful Weather Song, and students will create Weather Wheels to describe various weather types by the end of the unit.
