VCE DRAMA
Solo Performances
Tuesday 17 September
Our Unit 4 Drama students performed their Solo’s to an evening audience of parents, friends, LHS staff and past Drama students.
The Solo task is the biggest performance component of the course and requires students to utilize a range of playmaking techniques, over a three-month period, to devise a seven-minute eclectic solo performance based on one of the ten characters from the prescribed VCAA list.
This year, characters chosen were The Lorax, The Film Noir Detective, The Pythonesque Knight ‘Kevin’, The Spirit of the Commonwealth Games and The Time Magazine Wannabe.
This performance was essentially a dress rehearsal before the students are externally assessed early next term.
All of the performances were highly entertaining, and the students presented themselves in a composed and professional manner.
During the evening, experienced VCE Drama staff, comprising myself, Angela Louis, Narelle McGrotty, and Jono Bleakley, provided feedback and advice for the students to use in the final stages of their performance preparation.
Thank you and congratulations to everyone involved and to our wonderful MC’s, Performing Arts Captains, Noah Vincent and Ayla Harnett.
