INSTRUMENTAL MUSIC

September Soiree

Thursday 5 September

Congratulations to our soloists, duos, and small ensembles who delighted family and friends in a relaxed performance in early September. It was wonderful to see and hear students from all year levels performing pieces on brass, woodwind, guitar, percussion, piano, and voice.

We truly do have some talented musicians among us!

Inter-school Battle of the Bands

Recently, two of our rock bands, ENH and ROOM2, competed in an inter-school Battle of the Bands competition at Boronia K-12.

The event was run as a professional music gig, complete with wristbands, performers' lanyards, roadies, and sound tech (earplugs were optional!).

We came away with three awards – both bands were voted ‘Tight Team Work’ by two other schools, and Kai Raiteri won ‘Best Solo’ for his saxophone shredding.

Wilbur Wilde Visit

We thank Wilbur Wilde (ex Ol’55, Hey Hey it’s Saturday, and Melbourne Music icon) for his recent visit and donation of a huge catalogue of music magazines. The magazines cover a range of music genres from pop to country to heavy metal.

We look forward to students engaging in some reading and catching up on music industry news during their music classes.
