Celebrating a Wonderful Term 3 at Kambala
What a remarkable Term 3 it has been at Kambala. As always, the weeks were filled with a rich blend of learning, joy, and countless events that truly showcase the essence of our school: our dedicated educators, our vibrant students, and the strong community we are so fortunate to have. Just last week, I had the pleasure of attending the KPA-hosted Junior School Cocktail Party. It was a wonderful reminder of the deep sense of goodwill and community spirit that binds us all together. On Friday, our Junior School Open Day provided another opportunity to celebrate as we welcomed families to experience firsthand the exceptional programs from Preparation to Year 6.
This week also brings a moment of reflection and celebration as we prepare to bid farewell to the Class of 2024. The conclusion of their HSC and IB trials marks the final chapter of their journey with us, and as they prepare for their upcoming exams, we know they will approach them with the same diligence and determination they have shown throughout their time at Kambala. We wish them every success in the weeks ahead and have no doubt they will make us – and more importantly, themselves – proud.
The last few weeks have been a time to honour the Class of 2024 through various farewell events, culminating in the much-anticipated Year 12 Dinner this evening. For many in our community, it has been a privilege to witness the growth, resilience, and achievements of these young women over their years at Kambala. It is with great pride that we announced Lilly Graebner as the peer-voted 2024 Valedictorian. Among the many wonderful qualities attributed to Lilly, one that stood out was her ability to be “a positive influence in any room,” a true testament to her character. Congratulations, Lilly – and to all of our Year 12 girls, whose unique contributions have left an indelible mark on our school.
In reflecting on this exceptional graduating class, we are reminded of the profound impact of a girls' education. These young women exemplify the very best of what an outstanding education can foster. They leave us as not only academically accomplished but as confident, compassionate, and thoughtful individuals ready to shape the world around them. Their journey at Kambala has been one where critical thinking, leadership, and a deep sense of social responsibility have been nurtured. These values, so integral to our community, are reflected in each of our graduates. We owe much to the unwavering support of our parents, whose partnership has been key in creating an environment where these young women have flourished. They are truly the future leaders, innovators, and change-makers of our society.
As we bid farewell to the Class of 2024, we also look ahead with great anticipation to the continued growth and learning of our current students. Recently, we were inspired by the leadership and entrepreneurship of Head Prefect Sophie Alexander. Sophie, driven by a passion for change, has been working tirelessly alongside Head of PDHPE, Mr. Simon Board, to champion sun safety education across the national curriculum. Her efforts culminated in a significant event here at Kambala, bringing together experts and suppliers to help raise awareness among our students. With media attention and political support, Sophie's initiative is only beginning to take flight, and we commend her vision, dedication, and tenacity in bringing about meaningful change.
As Term 3 draws to a close, the Kambala spirit continues to shine brightly. I would like to express my gratitude to every member of our community for their contribution to making our school the extraordinary place it is. I wish you all a restful and rejuvenating holiday break and look forward to welcoming you back in Term 4, ready to embrace all the opportunities and experiences that await us.
