Premier’s Reading Challenge

Congratulations all the Roselea children who completed this year’s 2024 Premier’s Reading Challenge.  Children will be receiving a special certificate from the Premier of NSW in recognition of their efforts. This certificate will come to the school in late Term 4.

As the challenge officially runs from September until the following August each year, we usually begin our new challenge in Term 3, Week 9 or 10.  This means that many students can complete the challenge before the end of the school year and/or over the summer holidays.  Roselea students can begin the 2025 challenge from next week. Any books they read from now and during the upcoming school holidays will count towards their 2025 challenge.  To help students keep track of their reading I will be giving each student in years 2-6 a recording sheet to write down the books they borrow and read each week.  If students would like a recording sheet for home also, they will be able to take an extra copy.  This years’ Kindy and Year 1 do not need to write down their books as the teachers and I will keep a record of the books that they read.

It would be fantastic if students write down every book they read at home from September, regardless of whether they think it is in the reading challenge or not.

It is important that students keep a record of the books they read because they are unable to keep an electronic record until March of next year.
