NATIONAL AEROSCHOOLS UPDATE
* e-x-c-i-t-i-n-g n-e-w-s *
It’s with great excitement to share with our SF community the outcome of our three teams at the recent AeroSchools National Championships! It’s been a super- busy two terms of training and efforts to raise a few funds for this trip, and finally, last Thursday, all their persistence, training and efforts came together for their exciting performance ‘centre stage’ at the AeroSchools Nationals up on the Gold Coast!
Our 17 girls in their three respective teams were entered in the Upper Primary, Teams - Division C category. To the girls credit (and from all ‘modest parent’ reports), all three teams were able to push their nerves to the side and absolutely ‘shine on the day’, with all 3 teams pulling off a very polished performance! After all Division C teams performed over the morning, presentations finally took place - with no one knowing just how well they’d all go!
Excitingly, our three teams ALL came away with A TOP 10 PLACING: 2nd place, 6th place and 7th place - which is such a credit to them all. Congratulations to Emersyn, Maddy, Ivy, Maisy, Harper and Scarlett on their silver medal performance. It was a very special moment for them all as their names and our school were announced as coming 2nd, and to then receive their silver medals whilst standing up on the medal podium!
Congratulations also goes to 6th place-getters: Chaewon, Charli, Alexa, Freddy and Isla on their 6th placing, as well as Amelia, Rose, Sophie, Adriana, Savannah & Evie for their brilliant 7th placing. These outcomes are a credit to the girls for their willingness to keep practising, their positive attitudes in working together to help fundraise and for their amazing manners witnessed throughout - well done girls on being such great role models for all St. Finbar’s students.
A massive thank you goes to Kate Blake and Caitlin Chaponnel, who kindly stepped up to the Team Officials for the girls for this event. We’d also like to thank all parents and their families for their time and efforts, along with the entire SF community who supported the girls in their fundraising efforts over Term 3. In what started off as a ‘tiny little seed’ to offer students a new recreational activity this year at St. Finbar’s, it most certainly blossomed into something pretty special for all those involved.
Term 4 Cricket Blast (T20) tournaments
Year 5&6 day is set for Week 2: Friday 18th October
Year 3&4 day is set for Week 3: Friday 25th October
Our Cricket Blast students are getting excited about their upcoming tournaments, which will be held at Dendy Park, lower ovals.
FURTHER PARENT HELPERS REQUIRED: All teams will require at least 1-2 parents to support the managing and scoring of games over the day. If you’d like to support your child’s team on this day, please email Tania with your availability. 9.10am - 2.30pm, or ½ day support would be much appreciated. Thank you to those parents that have offered their time and efforts so far.
WHOLE SCHOOL SWIMMING CARNIVAL
Our Term 4 sporting highlight is our Whole School Swimming Carnival, set to take place on Friday 29th November. This year’s carnival will be held at MSAC in the large outdoor undercover pool. The Junior and Senior carnival will be run in the same pool, with a boom separating the pool into two.
Parents: please lock this date into your diaries now! This event does require the wonderful support from numerous parent helpers for both the Junior (P-2) and Senior (3-6) carnivals. An Operoo email with all relevant details will be sent out to all families in the next few weeks.
