News from 3G

What a fantastic start to Term 4 we’ve had in 3G!

The students have come back full of energy and excitement for what promises to be an action-packed term. This Friday, we’re kicking things off with our very own 3G assembly, and on Monday, the students are eagerly awaiting their first overnight camp at Briars, Mount Martha. They can’t wait to experience all the outdoor adventures and bond with their friends in the cabins! This week, we also reached a milestone in our class reading journey by finishing The Wild Robot. Over the holidays, many students had the chance to see The Wild Robot at the cinema and came back with some fascinating comparisons between the book and the film. They had a great time discussing their thoughts, and we’ve shared a few of their reflections below!

Will Z In the movie, the characters were similar to the ones in the book. Roz was always trying to do good things and think about others. I think the author, Peter Brown, was really creative because there aren’t any wild robots in real life! And Brightbill, the little duck who lost his family, was just like he was in the book too.

Mayura T I think the movie and the book The Wild Robot were really exciting! After reading the book, you’ll be excited to watch the movie because you already know what happens. The setting was the same, on the island, but the movie made everything look more realistic. They also added some extra details that weren’t in the book. Brightbill is a little duck whose parents died, and he was still in his eggshell. Roz, the robot, adopted him, and when he hatched, Brightbill thought Roz was his real mum!

Lily Y I liked the movie The Wild Robot and the book the same, but there were some differences. In the movie, Roz tries to go back to the factory where she was made, but in the book, she doesn’t. Some of the characters were the same, but they acted differently. For example, Mr. Beaver was cutting down a big tree in the movie, but in the book, he just lives in his dam. In conclusion, I thought it was great!
