IN THE SPOTLIGHT
PONG FUNDRAISER WAS A BIG HIT
On Thursday September 19th, students from Kinder to Year 12, our staff, BHCS families and friends once again joined in with the BHCS Ping Pong-a-Thon fundraiser.
Thanks to the BHCS school community, the PONG raised $10,363.50!!
This success was the result of all our combined efforts. With students buying sausages, donating gold coins for free dress participation, high tea ticket sales, over $2,500 raised from hampers, and more than $1,800 from the Year 6 and 7 student stalls.
The funds raised support a variety of charities and organisations dedicated to rescuing people from slavery both here in Australia and overseas.
Lots of Thank yous below:
Thank you to the families who donated amazing items for the hampers and for the many people who bid on these hampers! No doubt the winners are enjoying them!
Thank you to those who purchased tickets to attend the high tea to hear firsthand about modern-day slavery and to the staff that organized this event.
Thank you to the Year 6 cohort and following 7 students (Cameron F, Ruth C, Claire C, Hannah T, Ruby B, Harper B, Leah F, Saartje C, Kaitlyn J, Luca H, Monique S, Chloe G) for creating many items to sell at the student stalls on the day.
A special shout-out to Belgrave South IGA for their incredibly generous donation of sausages and the staff that helped cook more than1000 of them.
Special thanks to Ivan Seskis, Krista La Greca, Kelle Scott, Natalie Flanagan, Vicky Fraanje, Glenn Booth, Leanne Webster, Anita Little, Lynne Brown, Year 12 student leaders, Year 11 house captains, Year 11 VM students, BHCS Leadership and all staff for the active support.
THANK YOU TO EVERYONE who invested their time, talent, energy and hard work to make the day a complete success! We are so proud of what we accomplished together!
HERALD SUN SHIELD: FOOTBALL
BY CALEB LOBBE (Year 8 Co-ordinator)
Last month I had the privilege of coaching the CSEN Senior Football team at the AFL Victoria Herald Sun Shield. We had three students from our school (Hector C, Zac B and Fletcher M) participate and all three of them did a fantastic job.
CSEN has never won a game at the Herald Sun Shield (since it started participating in 2017) and it presents a challenge given that it is a team made up of students from many different CSEN affiliated schools across Victoria (rather than all students from one school like the other teams participating - thus making training, bonding and preparation easier).
I am pleased to say that the CSEN team put in a fantastic effort and came very close to our first ever win in our final match of the day! A particular highlight was seeing Hector make a great chase down tackle and create some great momentum from the backline.
Congratulations to Hector, Zac and Fletcher on representing our school so wonderfully at this prestigious event!
