Wow!! Is it the end of Term 3 already?! I would like to begin by acknowledging the amazing work undertaken by our staff throughout this term to deliver a comprehensive and engaging teaching and learning program to the children. To our students, thank you for fully immersing yourselves in all of the learning experiences and for always striving to be your best selves.

What a wonderful afternoon the children had on Wednesday at our Primary Years Programme ‘How the World Works’ Learning Expo. From culinary trips around the world from our Year 6s, geographical documentaries from our Year 5s, Potato Olympics highlights from our 3/4s, to puppets and catapults from our Year 1/2s and science experiments galore across our Prep cohort, the expo shone a bright and brilliant light on the children’s achievements this term; showcasing the deep understanding they have developed as a result of their inquiries.

Next term, we will take a deep dive into ‘Sharing the Planet’. ‘Sharing the Planet’ leads students on a journey to explore their rights and responsibilities in the struggle to share finite resources with other people and living things. Students will also investigate how communities and the relationships within and between them can support or hinder our goals to share resources.

Next term, we will also be welcoming back Briony from Parental Leave. Briony will be undertaking work through the Tutor Learning Initiative in the areas of both Mathematics and English. This program, like in previous years, provides students with an intensive learning program over a 7-8 week teaching period. Upon completion of the intensive learning program, classroom teachers are provided with guidance on how they can continue to support and extend students within the classroom.

Finally, I would like to acknowledge the outstanding work of Nicole, Emily and Sormeh. They effortlessly spend their time fielding parent queries and concerns, along with managing the day to day ups and downs of the school. They truly are the heart and soul of Fitzroy North Primary School and I can’t thank them enough for their ongoing commitment to the school and myself.
