Highlights from Heights Campus
Our Grade 3 and 4 students have been hard at work, engaging in a variety of learning experiences that have fostered creativity, critical thinking, and collaboration.
During literacy sessions, students have been diving into poetry writing, exploring different styles and experimenting with language to express their thoughts and emotions in creative ways. They’ve also been developing their comprehension skills by learning to make inferences and draw conclusions based on the information in the text.
In Mathematics, the focus has been on multiplication. Students have been learning key multiplication facts and strategies to help them efficiently solve math problems. They have been developing their understanding of the vertical multiplication algorithm and practising fast recall of times tables facts, as these skills are crucial for building a strong foundation for future mathematical learning.
In addition, our students have also been cooking up a storm during their weekly kitchen sessions. It’s wonderful to see the collaboration and enthusiasm as students prepare and eat dishes together, learning practical skills and life lessons.
This week the MLC students were thrilled to welcome the City of Greater Dandenong Biodiversity Team to our school. The council representatives provided an engaging presentation on the importance of biodiversity and creating local habitats to support wildlife. Students learned about the positive impact of planting trees and maintaining green spaces. The team demonstrated how to plant a sapling and generously donated saplings that will be planted by students in our school grounds early next term.
It’s been a fantastic term, we look forward to more exciting learning opportunities ahead!
