Village Fair – Thank You

A huge thank you to all of our families who have volunteered their time and support in the lead-up to our Village Fair tomorrow. We are incredibly excited, and fingers crossed the weather holds for what promises to be a fantastic day.

There has been an enormous amount of time, effort and generosity poured into preparing for this event, and as a school community we sincerely thank every person who has contributed. We couldn’t do it without you!

 

Updated Attendance Notification System

To further strengthen our communication with families and ensure the safety and wellbeing of all students, we are introducing an updated attendance notification process.

If your child is marked as absent in the morning roll, an automatic text message and/or email will be sent to the primary contact person at approximately 9:45am. This message will include a link for families to update or explain their child’s absence online.

If your child arrives late to school, it is important that they sign in at the office upon arrival. If this does not occur, the system will record them as absent and you may receive the notification message.

We appreciate your support in helping us maintain accurate attendance records and ensuring all students are accounted for each day.

 

Industrial Action Update

Thank you to all our Anglesea PS families for your patience and understanding as we worked through the recent Industrial Action. We were required to follow strict directives, guidelines and policies, which were regularly updated in the lead-up to the day, and communication to families needed to be shared using set templates within specific timeframes.

We recognise that this created challenges for families in planning and appreciate the understanding shown by our community. Industrial action is not something staff undertake lightly, with members of the AEU advocating for improved working conditions to support staff wellbeing and, ultimately, enhance learning opportunities for all students.

 

Annual Easter Egg Drop

Students will be designing a parachute that will safely land a chocolate egg when dropped from the highest platform in the playground on the last day of school (2/4/26). During class time at school, students will design their parachute then bring home a list of items that they will need to build their parachute. We ask that you please help your child/ren collect the items they may require and bring them to school by Tuesday the 31st of March. The Egg Drop will take place at school on Thursday 2nd April from 11:30-12pm.

 

Walkathon/Colour Run

Anglesea Primary School will once again host a school walkathon which raises valuable funds for the Royal Children’s Hospital (RCH) Good Friday Appeal on our final day of school for Term 1. This year we will also be combining the Walkathon with a Colour Run. 

 

All money raised from donations will go to the Royal Children’s Hospital ‘Good Friday Appeal’, 2026.  All donations must be brought to school by Thursday 2nd April. The cost of participating is $2, parents and siblings are invited to come along and join in the fun. Students can wear casual clothing (but be prepared to get wet and coloured). 

  • Walkathon: 1:15-2:10pm

  • Colour Run: 2:10-2:30pm

 

Holiday Maintenance Upgrades

Over the upcoming school holidays, Anglesea Primary School will be undertaking a series of important maintenance and upgrade works as part of the Department’s Planned Maintenance Program. Angleasea PS has been selected for an accelerated program of works to address identified Shelter in Place (SIP) defect repairs, further strengthening the safety and functionality of our learning environment.

 

Some of the works planned will included; 

  • An in-ground irrigation system will be installed in the front Angair garden to support moisture retention and ensure the long-term sustainability of this important area. 
  • vegetation within 10 metres of school buildings will also be removed to reduce risk and support emergency management planning. This will include all vegetation apart from the front Angair garden. It will also include multiple mature eucalyptus trees on the carpark side of the school.
  • improvements to window mesh around the building
  • Skylight upgrades from plastic to a non flammable material
  • Some roller shutter upgrades

  • The replacement of wooden outdoor seating with metal bench seating.

     

While there will be a visible increase in activity on site during the holiday period, these works have been carefully scheduled to minimise disruption to teaching and learning. 

 

We look forward to welcoming students back to an improved and safer environment for Term 2.

 

School Council

We are pleased to congratulate and acknowledge our School Council Office Bearers for the 2026–2027 term. We thank these members for their willingness to take on leadership roles and support the ongoing governance and strategic direction of our school.
