Library chain of love

Howdy all,

Sorry I’ve been incommunicado for a while. Library life has been a stop/start/should I?/ shouldn’t I? experience over the last 5 weeks.

The wonderful Gaby took these great pics of our library chain of love from a couple of weeks ago. Excitement filled the air and the kids had a hoot. One of the gems for me was hearing kids repeatedly say ‘oh, I didn’t know we had this book in the library!’. Their excitement was infectious. We moved 80% of the books on the day and grade 5/6 MM students helped to transfer the rest the next day.

In terms of the new library space, A huge thank you to Janai, in admin, who saved the day several times with her incredible and practical understanding of how to maximise the use of the library spaces, including sourcing items essential to the library’s day-to-day running. The library would have been a scratch your head and hope you can work through the maze kinda vibe without her input.

The library will open on Wednesday, the 18th of March. It’s a couple of weeks later than I had intended but hey, life. As the saying goes, ‘How do you make God laugh? Tell her your plans’. But seriously, thank you all for your patience. I know the students are super keen for it to be open again. As am I.

I’ll send out a Compass post closer to the library’s opening with more deets. It will be wonderful (or I’m going home to bed and not getting up till Easter 😉).

Big library love

Kim
