IMPORTANT - Message from School Council
Parents and Carers,
I’m writing you on behalf of the School Council to communicate our active support for our education and support staff. You may have seen recent media or posters outlining proposed protected industrial action that Australian Education Union members will be commencing in March of this year.
Pending the outcome of a Fair Work Commission ballot for union members to endorse the action, members will be able to partipcate in a range of actions, one of which will be a likely statewide 24 hour stop work on the 24th of March.
We appreciate that AEU members are not considering this action lightly, and we know that the teachers, education support, assistant principal and principal class members would prefer to be doing their job (which we know they do so well for our children), providing a high quality education and wellbeing support for students. However, the message regarding underfunding of schools in Victoria is not resonating.
No matter your political leaning, the facts are that Victorian public schools are the lowest funded in Australia, and in 2023-24 each Victorian student was funded $2325 less than the national average. The current government has also now delayed fully funding schools to the Schooling Resource National Standard to 2031. This is unacceptable. As we’ve communicated previously, fundraising is unfortunately an essential part of the running of our school, for operational costs, along with additional items like quality playgrounds.
While, if approved, any protected industrial action will be disruptive for the community, School Council fully supports union members right to participate, and even more importantly urges the proper and full funding of public schools in Victoria for our children. We know that the community will be understanding of those staff members that choose to participate.
If you would like to support further, you can email the Minister for Education at Reception.Carroll@minstaff.vic.gov.au

Team Kids Holiday Program
TeamKids – Autumn Vacation Care Notification
As a result of continued major works occurring on-site at CNPS during the Term 1 2026 school holidays, I have again advised TeamKids that the vacation care program cannot run. These decisions are not made lightly, but we must prioritise student safety. It is the schools understanding that from mid-year vacation programs can recommence at CNPS.
CNPS families will be able to access TeamKids autumn vacation programs at the following locations:
Princes Hill Primary School
Brunswick South Primary School
Clifton Hill Primary School
Flemington Primary School
Gero and the team will inform our community which service they will be working at during the April school holidays.
If you have any questions, please contact TeamKids or the CNPS office.
