An Action-Packed Term

As we head into the final weeks of Term 1, it has been wonderful to reflect on what has already been a busy and rewarding start to the year. With students across the school continuing to embrace a wide range of academic, sporting, and co-curricular opportunities, the school remains busy as the term draws to a close.

Last Friday, the Wiburd Shield team had a very convincing win on Main Oval against St Philip’s College (Cessnock). Mitch Cosier scored a strong 49 to hold the innings together, while Billy Baldwinson ripped through the top order, taking 4/10 from his 5 overs. The team now progresses to the Grand Final, where they will face either Penrith Anglican College or Shellharbour Christian School.

Music Immersion last week was a huge success. Running from Thursday to Saturday, students spent the camp preparing in small ensembles for the public performance on Saturday night. From jazz by the Stage Band, to a beautiful contemporary choral performance, the evening showcased a range of outstanding talents. The event was led by our wonderful music leaders, organising sessions throughout the week and leading the final event. We are incredibly grateful for the enthusiasm, commitment and range of musical talent demonstrated by our students.

In other music news, our Music 1 and 2 students recently had the wonderful opportunity to attend an excursion to the Sydney Opera house for an outstanding viewing of ‘Encore’. ‘Encore’ is an annual performance of nominated HSC students from around NSW. The musical talent showcased was truly inspiring, we are lucky to be given such opportunities to further develop musical appreciation.

Last weekend the 'Dean's Run for Sick Kids' initiative took place, resulting in many tired, but fulfilled runners and a positive impact for the Ronald McDonald's charity. Many students attended the weekend, working hard to run and complete the course. The event was a wonderful demonstration of our school as a community raising awareness and supporting programs, research and equipment in hospitals caring for sick children. We are immensely proud of the effort, determination and generosity of everyone involved.

With our Annual Cadet camp coming up this weekend, students from years 8-12 are looking forward to an exciting opportunity to develop their skills within the field. With a wide range of activities including abseiling, trekking, and kayaking, this camp is a valuable opportunity for cadets to build friendships, strengthen leadership and enjoy their time outdoors. Our Duke of Edinburgh students are also heading off to camp this weekend, where they will be travelling to Thredbo to complete their adventurous journey. They will spend the week hiking and mountain biking through the surrounding mountains of Kosciuszko National Park.

It has definitely been an action packed term and as we approach these final weeks, students remain motivated and committed, aiming to finish the term on a strong and positive note.

Kind Regards,

Julia, Ivy, Charlie, and Angus
