From the Archives

The story of our archives

The Kinross Wolaroi archives began as a collection of books, papers, photographs and memorabilia that had been carefully kept over many decades. These items tell the story of the School’s past — from classroom life and sporting achievements to special events and the people who shaped the community. While meaningful, the materials were originally stored in different places and formats, making it difficult to fully explore and share the rich history they represent.

In 2023, work began to transform the Kinross Wolaroi archives into a professionally organised and catalogued collection, and this important project continues today. Each item is carefully assessed, preserved and recorded, with detailed information added so it can be easily located and understood in the future. As the work progresses, the archives are becoming an increasingly valuable resource that protects the School’s heritage and helps students, staff, alumni and researchers connect with the stories and traditions that have shaped Kinross Wolaroi over generations.

Kim Eberhard has been instrumental in supporting the transformation of the Kinross Wolaroi archives since the project began in 2023. As Westpac’s Head of Historical Services, Kim is responsible for managing the bank’s corporate archives — the largest privately held archives in the Southern Hemisphere.

Having commenced her career in media and journalism, she later found her passion in historical research and documentary heritage. Prior to joining Westpac in 2015, Kim held a number of archivist and research roles and also served as President of the Australian Society of Archivists. Her expertise and guidance have been invaluable in helping organise, catalogue and provide historical context for the Kinross Wolaroi collection.

Our New School Museum

Work is also progressing on an exciting new chapter for the Kinross Wolaroi archives — the development of a dedicated School Museum, scheduled to open in mid-2026. The museum will provide a permanent space to showcase the stories, people and traditions that have shaped the School across generations, allowing the community to experience its history in a new and engaging way.

Significant progress has already been made, with the museum space now taking shape. Lighting, flooring and cabinetry have been installed, creating the foundation for the exhibition areas. Attention is now turning to the displays themselves, as items from the archives are carefully selected, prepared and arranged to tell the story of Kinross Wolaroi. As the exhibits begin to come together, excitement is building for a space that will bring the School’s rich history to life for students, staff, alumni and visitors.
