School Wide Positive Behaviour Support

We have achieved so much this term at our school, establishing our classroom expectations and procedures, and launching our Red Gum leaves reward system.

I am pleased to announce that Glenelg House had the most leaves this term (59), so I will be making them all some delicious milkshakes at the start of Term 2. It was a close competition, with Wannon House receiving 54 leaves. Milkshake orders and details will be available Week 1 Term 2.

Resilience, Rights and Respectful Relationships Learning

This Term the major focus has been upon developing Emotional Literacy and understanding Personal and Cultural Strengths.

We reviewed the Zones of Regulation and talked about strategies that assist us to regulate our emotions in a range of situations.

Students have worked to develop a vocabulary to help them recognise and understand strengths and positive qualities in themselves and others. They identified the values and strengths they have learnt from role models within their families and cultures, and were supported to think about how this guidance helps them to treat others with respect. They considered how to draw on these strengths to engage with the challenges and opportunities that life presents.

It is vital our children understand that personal and cultural strengths are not the same as being “talented”. They are the strengths that help us be positive community members.

If you get the opportunity, have a conversation with your kids about these topics. Talk to them about your personal strengths, or the personal strengths you value in others. Discuss positive role models and why they have made an impact in your life.
