President: Tim Huf
Vice President: Carly Behncke
Treasurer: Jodie Young
Secretary: Millie Lowndes
Parent Representatives: Ben Cross, Rick Luhrs
Community Members: Brent Reed, Jessica Porter
At the following General Meeting we approved the following:
- Pupil Free Day on Tuesday 9th June
- Fundraising - Sheep Drive
If you know of anyone who might be keen to donate a sheep or two to our fundraising flock, please let us know. Dates for the collection and sale of the sheep are to be confirmed.
National Eucalyptus Day
To finish off our learning in Humanities and Biology for the term, and in preparation for the Red Gum Festival, we celebrated National Eucalyptus Day on Monday 23rd March. We raised $50 to donate to Planet Ark and planted two eucalypts on our school grounds.
SGSSA Athletics
Our team of Year 3-5 students travelled to Mitchell Park on Tuesday 31st March to compete in the Southern Grampians Schools Sports Association. I have received a lot of very positive feedback from other teachers and community members about the fantastic behaviour choices, sportsmanship and growth mindset shown by our Cavendish kids. Special mention to Skye who showed true grit in the hurdles, and to Edith who qualified for division in the 200m. Many congratulations to Maddie Porter who qualified for 100m, hurdles and shot put as well as winning Age Champion.
Thanks to Miss Sartain and Miss P for supervising and organising, and all of our parent & community members who went along to help and cheer.
Red Gum Festival
With just over two weeks until the Red Gum Festival, the teachers and students have been busily preparing Art for the Art Exhibition, cooking and preparing garden produce for sale.
On Saturday 18th April we would appreciate as many of our students as possible to come along and be part of our school performance on the Red Gum stage. Our performance starts at 10am. No need to wear uniform.
Also, if you haven’t already, you can volunteer to help our Parents Club run their fund raising stall, or help the Red Gum Festival Committee.
I will also be there fundraising alongside the Parents Club and their Sweet Treats stall. We have been loaned the Western District Health Service Smoothie Bike, so come along and purchase a smoothie from The Pedalling Principal!
Working Bee
We are holding a Working Bee to get the school presentable for the Red Gum Festival on Sunday 12th April from 10-am to 3pm. Jobs to complete are:
- Cleaning of Stadium floor and windows
- Washing exterior of cubby and art room
- Removing cobwebs from exterior of main school building
- Clean up of sticks/debris/rocks/weeds
- Jet wash concrete areas
- Clean locker area
- General clean up around the grounds
Spread soft fall evenly under playground equipment (not around edges just under the equipment)
Please bring along any equipment that may assist with these jobs.
Easter Egg hunt
The students enjoyed an easter egg hunt at the end of school today. There was lots of smiles and excitement.
Start of Term 2
We have a Pupil Free Day the first day back in Term 2. Our teachers will be meeting with their colleagues from Merino, Casterton and Coleraine to do some curriculum planning.
Students will begin Tuesday 21st April.
TAKE NOTE Thursday 23rd April we will run our Cavendish Primary School Cross Country. We will again be using the Settlers Walk as our track, beginning the first race at approximately 1:45pm. All spectators welcome to come along and cheer! Our back up day will be Monday 27th April.
Have a great holiday everyone.
