CAREERS AND PATHWAYS

Year 10 Work Experience – Hosts Needed

Our Year 10 students will be undertaking Work Experience in 2026, and we are currently seeking local businesses, organisations and workplaces who are willing to host a student.

Work Experience is a valuable part of our careers program, providing students with the opportunity to spend time in a real workplace. During this placement, students build confidence, develop communication and employability skills, and gain a deeper understanding of different industries and career pathways.

Placements will take place during:

  • Term 2: 8th – 12th June 2026
  • Term 3: 14th – 18th September 2026

Students are encouraged to organise their own placements in an industry of interest, however we greatly value the support of our school community in helping provide these opportunities.

Hosting a student is a rewarding experience and a great way to give back to the community, share your knowledge, and inspire the next generation. Students are there to observe, learn and assist with basic tasks in a safe and supported environment.

If you or your workplace are able to support a student, please refer to the flyer for further information or contact Sarah Blenkiron, Careers & Pathways Leader.

Victorian Careers & Employment Expo – Year 10 Excursion

A group of our Year 10 students recently attended the Victorian Careers & Employment Expo on Friday 20th March, where they had the opportunity to explore a wide range of future pathways. Throughout the day, students engaged with representatives from universities, TAFEs, and employment agencies, gaining valuable insights into study options, training pathways, and career opportunities.

One of the highlights of the expo was the hands-on activities, where students were able to trial different industries and get a real feel for potential career paths. These interactive experiences helped bring learning to life and supported students in making more informed decisions about their futures.

Overall, the day was a fantastic success. Students returned with increased knowledge, confidence, and motivation as they continue their ARCHway Journey and begin thinking about their pathway beyond school.

Year 7 Curious Careers Presentation – Arrive & Thrive

Our Year 7 students recently participated in an engaging Curious Careers presentation delivered by Tyson from Arrive & Thrive.

The session introduced students to the concept of what a career is and encouraged them to start thinking about their own interests, strengths and attributes. Through interactive discussions, students explored the importance of curiosity and how being open to new experiences can support them in developing a meaningful future pathway.

A key focus of the presentation was the ROAR framework, helping students recognise the skills they already have and how these can grow over time. Students were also encouraged to reflect on gratitude in their life and future work, building a positive mindset as they begin their career journey.

This session provided a fantastic foundation for our Year 7 students as they begin the Discover phase of their ARCHway Journey, supporting them to better understand themselves and the world of work.

We thank Arrive & Thrive for delivering such an engaging and thought-provoking experience for our students.

Careers Curriculum in ARCH/PDS – Term Wrap Up

This term, students across the College have been actively engaged in their careers learning through our ARCH/PDS program, as part of the ongoing ARCHway Journey. Each year level has participated in tailored lessons designed to build self-awareness, explore opportunities, and develop the skills needed to make informed pathway decisions.

Throughout the term, students have explored who they are, what they are interested in, and how their strengths and values connect to future career pathways. They have engaged in activities linked to the Victorian Careers Curriculum, including identifying personal skills and attributes, investigating different industries, and understanding the wide range of pathways available beyond school.

Students have also begun to develop important career management skills such as goal setting, decision making, and reflecting on their learning. These are key capabilities that will support them not only in subject selection, but throughout their lives.

It has been fantastic to see students engaging in meaningful conversations about their futures and taking ownership of their pathway planning. We look forward to continuing to build on this learning in Term 3 ARCH/PDS program as students progress through their ARCHway Journey—Your Pathway, Your Future, Your World.
