Our Food Technology kitchen is currently undergoing a major renovation and upgrade!
These improvements are designed to create a more modern, inclusive, and engaging learning environment for all students. The upgraded facility will feature brand-new, high-quality equipment that will better support practical learning and reflect industry standards.
A key highlight of the renovation is the installation of an adjustable workstation, ensuring that students with disabilities can comfortably and safely participate in all kitchen activities. The kitchen will also feature new equipment, including a smart screen to support interactive teaching and learning, as well as better ventilation and air conditioning to create a more comfortable working environment throughout the year.
We are looking forward to reopening the upgraded space in early Term 2 and cannot wait for students to experience the new and improved kitchen.

Year 7 and 8 Technology Mandatory
This semester, Year 7 and 8 Technology Mandatory students have been engaged in a hands-on textiles project focused on designing and creating sustainable “boomerang bags.” Throughout the unit, students have developed foundational sewing skills, including confidently operating sewing machines and applying a range of stitching techniques. They have explored creative textile processes by designing and dyeing their own bag straps using food dye, experimenting with a variety of tie-dye methods to produce unique patterns. Building on these skills, students have designed and constructed durable denim tote bags, incorporating personalised pocket features that reflect their individual creativity and design thinking. This project builds their practical skills while helping them understand sustainability and the design process.
Year 10 Design & Technology
Year 10 Design and Technology students have been working on a detailed marquetry coaster project, developing their skills in drawing, sketching, and annotating design ideas based on a chosen theme or culture. They have explored the process of working with veneer wood, carefully cutting, and assembling pieces to create intricate marquetry patterns. While the process can be quite meticulous, students have shown great patience and capability, producing some outstanding and highly creative designs. Their finished pieces are then applied to laser-cut timber bases and then vacuum formed, resulting in high-quality, visually striking marquetry coasters.
Year 11 Design & Technology
Year 11 Design and Technology students have made a strong start to the course this year, showing great interest and engagement. They are currently working on their first assessment task, which involves selecting an illness or condition and redesigning an everyday object by creating an easy-grip feature to improve usability for the user. As part of this process, students are experimenting with a range of materials and technologies including Pinkysil, resin, polymorph, and 3D printing to develop and refine their prototypes. This task introduces students to the key stages of the design process, helping them understand how initial ideas evolve into functional, real-world solutions. Alongside their practical work, students are also developing a design portfolio, completing scaffolded sections inspired by the HSC Major Design Project to build their understanding and skills for future success
Year 11 Multimedia: Creativity in Action
Year 11 Multimedia students have had an exciting and productive start to the term, diving into a range of creative projects that showcase both their technical skills and individuality.
Students are currently developing their own podcasts, choosing topics that reflect their interests and passions. From storytelling and interviews to discussions on current issues and pop culture, students are learning how to plan, script, record, and edit audio content. This project is building their skills in communication, organisation, and digital production, while also encouraging them to find and refine their unique voice.
Alongside this, students have been exploring frame-by-frame animation using Adobe Animate and graphics tablets. This hands-on process allows students to bring their ideas to life, one frame at a time, developing patience, attention to detail, and an understanding of movement and timing. It has been fantastic to see the creativity on display, with students experimenting with different styles and techniques to produce original animated sequences.
These projects highlight the diverse skill set required in multimedia and provide students with valuable experience in industry-relevant tools and processes. We look forward to seeing their final podcasts and animations come together over the coming weeks.
