English, Drama & LOTE

As Term 1 draws to a close, the English Faculty at J J Cahill Memorial High School is proud to reflect on a dynamic and productive start to the year. We warmly welcome Ms Macgill to our dedicated team – her enthusiasm and expertise have already enriched our faculty and school community.
A special highlight this term has been Ms Tickles’ outstanding leadership of the Writers Club. This program continues to inspire and challenge our talented student writers, providing a supportive space for creativity and skill development. The club has quickly become a hub for students eager to explore their literary talents.
Meanwhile, Mr Sneddon has been instrumental in running the Year 9 Elective (EX) class, which adopts a project-based learning approach. His innovative teaching methods have engaged students deeply, encouraging critical thinking and collaboration through hands-on projects that complement the English and broader school curriculum.
Our Year 11 teachers have been working diligently in implementing the new Stage 6 English syllabus across all senior courses. Their commitment to delivering a contemporary and rigorous program ensures our students are well-prepared for success in their HSC studies.
Recently, the English Faculty played a significant role at the school Open Night. Teachers showcased the exciting opportunities within our English courses and promoted the faculty’s vibrant learning environment. Their efforts to engage prospective students and families have been invaluable in strengthening our school community.
We thank all our staff and students for their dedication and enthusiasm this term and look forward to continuing this momentum in Term 2.
