Term 1 in the Art Room

This term we welcomed our senior students into our fabulous new art room. We are so lucky to have such a big and bright space to work in. The grade 5 and 6 students have been working on an art piece inspired by Henri Matisse. They have learnt about positive and negative space in artwork and explored the use of organic and geometric shapes in their own designs. 

The grade 3 and 4 students have loved working on their portraits inspired by LEGO. Zoning in on the art element of space our students have enjoyed experimenting with pastels, paints and fine liners to master their designs. Their use of bright colours are set to make this a show stopper at our schools art show later in the year. 

Each term our classroom teachers have a planning day when students get to enjoy a day of specialist classes. Last week I was lucky enough to welcome the preps into the art space for a lesson for the very first time. As you can see by some of the photos there was lots of excitement and big smiles!

STEAM Update

Grade 5 students designed Stop Motion Movies this Term. They tried hard to focus on keeping the camera still and action movements small. You may not see everyone's movie as some students wished not to have their's shared. So get out the popcorn ,sit back and enjoy.
