WARATAH BEACH CAMP! Week 3. This is a great camp. I'll include a list of items that are required for camp below that has come straight from the camp itself!
➢ A waterproof raincoat with a hood, even during summer, as rain can fall any time of the year.
➢ A single fitted sheet and pillow to maintain the highest standard of hygiene for our campers. Please do not forget that all campers must wear the following items of clothing when outside on camp.
These essential items are required to protect campers from the risk of sunburn, scratches, bites and stings:
➢ Long pants (light cotton for warmer months).
➢ Long sleeved shirt (sun-smart for warmer months).
➢ A warm beanie (terms 2-3) or sun-smart (bucket or legionnaires style) hat (terms 1-4). ➢ SPF 30+ sun screen.
➢ Enclosed shoes suitable for adventure activities, such as sneakers or runners.
➢ Drink Bottle.
You might like to use the Easter Break to ensure that everything is checked off to avoid that 'Sunday Night Before Scramble' that can happen.
Literacy
We finished Warhorse and it's fair to say that no one saw the twist at the end. I was emotional and it was nice to see that Joey ended back with Albert. We have moved to Persuasive writing and addressing the topic, "Should Animals have been used in World War 1?"
Next term we will be studying Ancient Rome and Greece. Should be interesting!
Maths
Decimals! They are everywhere we look and we will be looking at these specifically in Maths over the first few weeks of the term. Please make sure that you point them out to your children when you come across them. And if you really want to grab their attention.... talk money! Decimals everywhere. Particularly in the supermarket!
Inquiry
We focus on History this term and we will be studying 'Modern' Australian History and the figures that have been influential in shaping Australia over the last 250 years.
Well-Being
The Berry Street Education Model that has been so successfully employed at Skye Primary School will continue to be central to our Well Being program. The building of relationships that it fosters has seen our classrooms calmer and our students so much more focused during their learning time. They are encouraged to think about how ready to learn that they are, and if they think that they aren't so ready, they have identified strategies that they can use to get them in the best frame of mind.
Happy Holidays!
We hope that you have a wonderful time over the Easter Holidays. Click on the links below to give you some ideas to keep the family occupied! All the very best from Mr. Keenan, Ms. Grant and Mr. Taberner.
