Literacy:
We have continued our journey looking at penguins, specifically Emperor penguins! Check out the fun facts the students have learned below:
Numeracy:
This fortnight the students have been very busy learning about Multiplication & Division as well as Time. We have introduced arrays, the students used playdough as a way to show arrays and to help divide numbers. Having a hands on task to assist with a new concept was a lot of fun!
Inquiry:
We have started to wrap up our unit 'Someone Else's Shoes'. We have had some thoughtful, empathetic and insightful conversations and learning about people who live with a disability. The students have completed a small amount of research. We also had a student share the important work that she and her family do helping those who live with a disability. Thank you to those who have shared with us!
Wellbeing:
Ready to Learn Plans! We are finally on the final draft and the students have taken great care of looking at strategies which work for them. These documents will be reviewed regularly to reflect on how they are working for each individual. Feel free to touch base with us if you would like to learn more!
Clean Up Australia Day is Australia's largest community-based environmental event, held annually on the first Sunday in March, encouraging Australians to volunteer and clean up their local areas to combat litter and improve the environment. At Skye, we have held our event this week to make sure we contribute to the goal of keeping our environment clean, healthy and beautiful!
The students have been busy in the kitchen again, this time making delicious home made pasta, using herbs from the garden! The students worked hard in the garden again, watering, weeding, cleaning and tending to our chickens. They also learn how to set and clean up a table as a team. We would like to thank Mrs Furlong who leads our kitchen garden sessions with such passion.
