Happy Holidays to all our Grade 1 families! It has been a fantastic start to the year and it has been a joy getting to know all the students. We are wishing you all a safe and fun holiday and look forward to seeing you in Term 2.

Literacy

This term in Literacy we have worked on a range of phonemes. Student's have blown us away with their enthusiasm when learning and applying new phonemes and graphemes.

Term one graphemes: ai, ay, ee, ea, --y, igh, ie, -y, oa

Next term students will continue to learn and apply new phoneme and grapheme knowledge in reading and writing. We will begin the term with 'ar' 'art party'.

Maths

This Term students have been applying their number knowledge to work through a range of new concepts such as, number bonds, place value, bar models. Students have enjoyed celebrating their learning when doing review at the start of each math lesson. This portion of the lesson encourages students to recall previously taught concepts and apply them to questions, solidifying their knowledge and strengthening their recall.

Next team we are looking forward to starting our maths lessons with Measurement lessons, focusing on length.
