Colours Assembly

This week we recognised the many students in our community who have made a significant contribution to our school over the term at our Secondary Colours Assembly on Wednesday.

The School acknowledged students receiving a place in the 2025 Student Leadership Councils and also celebrated student participation at the ACC Inter-School Swimming Carnival. Special congratulations go to Isla (Year 8) for achieving U14 Champion Girl, Sophia (Year 9) U15 Champion Girl, and Ryder (Year 8) U14 Runner-Up Champion Boy.

The Secondary School also took the opportunity to farewell and show gratitude to Chaplain Justine. Read the full thank you from our Chapel Prefect in the following Wollaston's Wrap page.

Cert II Outdoor Recreation Rottnest Island

Last week, our Years 10 and 11 Outdoor Recreation students took their snorkelling skills from the pool to the open water with an unforgettable excursion to Rottnest Island. After weeks of practice and preparation, the students were eager to explore the Island’s stunning marine life.

For the Year 10s, the day began with a short walk to Geordie Bay for an introduction to Rottnest’s marine life, followed by an afternoon spent at The Basin, one of Rottnest’s most famous snorkelling spots. Under the guidance of their teachers, students confidently entered the water, spotting colourful fish, stingrays, and vibrant coral formations. It was incredible to see their skills and teamwork in action. Some students who were initially nervous quickly grew in confidence, diving down to explore and pointing out marine life.

The Year 11s rode bikes to Little Salmon and Salmon Bays where they saw beautiful corals, crayfish and large schools of fish. The afternoon was spent challenging themselves at The Basin’s famous swim throughs and caves.

Southern Associated Schools Inter-School Sports Competition

Selected secondary students recently took part in the Southern Associated Schools Inter-School Sporting Competition, held over three exciting days. The competition promotes participation, sportsmanship, leadership, and social connection among students from various schools.

Our students competed in cricket, touch rugby, and ultimate frisbee, putting in a tremendous effort across all sports. Their teamwork and determination were on full display, with some fantastic results achieved along the way.

Well done to all students for superbly representing the School!

Cocurricular Clubs

This term, our vibrant Clubs program provided students with exciting opportunities to explore new interests, develop skills, and connect with peers across different year levels. As the term draws to a close, it’s been fantastic to see students embracing these opportunities with enthusiasm.

Participation in one Club per week is a key part of our school’s culture, encouraging students from Years 7-9 to step outside their comfort zones and try something new. This term, Clubs ranged from hands-on activities like Woodwork Club, Art Masterclass, and Beauty to creative and performance-based groups such as Dance Company, Choir, and Creative Writers Club. For those with a passion for technology and problem-solving, LEGO League STEM Club and LEGO Masters Club provided exciting challenges, while sports enthusiasts honed their skills in badminton and swimming. Photography and Manga Clubs sparked artistic inspiration, ensuring there was something for everyone.

We look forward to another exciting term of Clubs ahead!

Flash Mob Year 9 Musical Theatre

When students stepped out for recess last Friday, no one expected to be swept away to the Land of Oz! Our Year 9 Musical Theatre class brought magic to the quad with a surprise Wizard of Oz themed flash mob.

A big thank you to Miss Thomas, Mr Devellerez and the talented students for turning an ordinary break into a fun moment of music, movement and school spirit!

Year 9 Robotics

Year 9 Robotics students are currently working on their second project—designing robots that detect and avoid obstacles. Using Lego EV3 Mindstorms, students program their robots to respond to their surroundings, simulating real-world applications.

This hands-on Robotics course blends design solutions and robotics. In Term 2, Students will transition to using Arduinos, building breadboard circuits to control devices like robotic arms, boom gates, and traffic lights. Each task challenges them to solve practical problems using a combination of code, circuitry, and creativity.

Thank you to Mr Mclachlan and the Technologies department for coordinating this exciting course.
