Enrolments are open for free 3 and 4 year old sessional kindergarten. 

Enrol through Casey Council for Hillsmeade Kindergarten. 

Long Day Care enrolments with kindergarten is through the ELC office.

If you have not enrolled your child, please do so immediately to be included in our transition sessions and preparations for next year.

Our Learning 

During this fortnight in the 3 and 4 year old kindergarten, the children have been undertaking learning in the following areas: 

 

Reading

*Finding their name on sign in sheet; identifying the first letter and finding other names that start with the same letter.

*Identifying the messages conveyed in signs and environmental print. 

*Listening and responding to music through dance and movement. 

Writing 

*Strengthening and refining their fine motor skills through work with clay, dough and manipulative equipment.

*Signing their names on arrival. 

*Developing an understanding that drawing/images and approximations of letters and words can be used to convey meaning. 

STEM

*For the children to explore formal units of measurement. 

*For the children to explore how things work through loose parts. 

*For the children to explore the plant life cycle through creating grass heads. 

*For the children to explore geometric shapes and how to create an image. 

*For the children to develop their observational skills; listening, watching and responding through ‘fizzy rainbows’ 

Inquiry

 

*In Term 4 the children in all groups are undertaking a study of the Inquiry Unit Our Community through which they will be exploring what a community is; the people in the community and the roles they play; and the places in our community and the services they provide. 
Social and Emotional 

*Moovelee Monkey Mindfulness and yoga. 

*Relating our discussions about how the members of a community care about safety and look after each other relates to our own relationships with the people in our families, kinder, and neighbourhood. 

Continuing to explore what a community is through dramatic play and small worlds.
Exploring circles and size.
Strengthening fine motor muscles.
Exploring formal units of measurement with rulers and tape measures to ascertain height and length.
Finding, recognising names and signing in.
