P&F News

Hi All,

A busy start to Term 4 which is exciting with Year 3 and 5 going on camp. I hope everyone has been watching the adventures via our St Finbars socials.

First week we had the school council meeting and covered a number of important topics:

1. Results of school communication survey

2. Discussion around appointment of new principal

3. School improvement plan

4. Enrolments for 2024

School Communication Survey

The objective was to gather data to identify the potential need to streamline and upgrade our communication at St Finbars.

Michelle Hill kindly collated and prepared the feedback so we could review collectively. Thank you Michelle and thank you to all that completed. Overall we felt the families are happy with all forms of communication. One of my takeaways from the comments is regarding communication from P&F so hence this update! We will continue to explore options to ensure we are effective in communication within our community.

Appointment of New Principal

At the School Council meeting a MACS representative came to explain the process of the appointment of the new principal and how the panel works. It was an opportunity to understand the process and we also had an open discussion with our School Parent representation on the panel about what we are looking for in a new principal.

Our Parent representatives are current parents and have been active on the school board for many years. They will be taking part in the interviewing process and have spent time gathering feedback and opinions of as many people as possible. I personally feel extremely confident of our parent representatives that they will do an exceptional job in selecting the ideal candidate.

Like any recruitment process, there is a requirement for confidentiality so any questions, feel free to reach out to me and I can try and assist.

We are aiming to have a new principal commence for the new year - Term 1 2024.

P&F Executive Committee for 2024

It’s that time of year that we would love to have our P&F committee for 2024 signed up to commence the new year with a rolling start.

Please reach out if you would like to take on the role of President, Vice President, Secretary or Treasurer. These executive roles will need to be nominated and elected to the board at the AGM on 28th November 2023.

And of course, your reps will be reaching out to replace their position in their year level.

Italian Day - Nov 17th

The P&F are really excited to announce Italian Day as a P&F funded incursion with a specialised pasta making workshop for the children. Lena Sirianni is known for creating fun and exciting events for the children so this will no doubt be a special event. More details to follow.

World Teachers' Day

On October 5th the staff sat down to sweet and savoury treats supplied by the P&F in recognition of all their hard work. We thank our dedicated teachers for everything they do and the effort they make towards educating our children. Thank you!

Annual Fundraiser for 2024

As this year we moved the annual P&F fundraiser to March and it seemed to be well received, it is important to book and prepare for 2024. Current Year 4 reps have agreed that BOGAN BINGO will be a truly fun event.

Start purchasing those flannelette shirts and temporary tattoos as this will be one to mark in your calendar - 23rd March 2024!
