This term in Art the Year 3s have been learning about creating an art piece which emphasises directing the audience's eye to a certain aspect of our work.

We learnt how to create the effect of texture on an animal by using sketching and shading techniques. Next, we painted a colour gradient background by blending light to dark colours. After this, we created an environment for our animals by painting trees, rocks and coral onto our backgrounds.

We explored the colours needed for the environment and used colour mixing to create our desired paint colours.

Lastly, we pasted on our animal sketches to become the focus of our piece. By sketching our animals in grey lead and painting the remainder of our work, we were able to create emphasis and ensure our animal stood out against its surroundings.
