Mathematics Association of Victoria Virtual Games Days
The Mathematics Association of Victoria (MAV) Virtual Games Day is an opportunity for students to collaborate in teams of four to solve novel problems, play games and enjoy unique mathematical challenges.
In a stunning display of mathematical prowess, Wyndham Central College emerged as the undisputed champions in the recent Mathematics Association of Victoria (MAV) Virtual Games Day held on the 9thOctober. Competing against schools from across the state, Wyndham Central College displayed their mathematical brilliance, clinching the 1st, 4th, and 10th positions. The achievement is a testament to the dedication, hard work, and exceptional talent of the students at Wyndham Central College.
The Year 9 team, in particular, stood out as they showcased their exceptional problem-solving skills and mathematical expertise. The Year 9 team delivered an exceptional performance working collaboratively to take first place in the competition and solidifying the school's reputation as a centre for academic excellence. Their success not only brought pride to the school but also highlighted the effectiveness of the educational programs and resources available at Wyndham Central College.
The entire school community express our immense pride in the students' achievements. The school is committed to providing a supportive and challenging academic environment. We thank the dedication of the classroom teachers who prepare our students on a daily basis and to Ms Angie Chan who organised and prepared for this wonderful event. We thank all the students for their eager participation and commitment to doing their best.
Winning the Math Games Day is a significant achievement that underpins Wyndham Central College's dedication to academic excellence. Goal Setting for Student Success
We encourage our students to continue their journey of self-improvement. Goal setting remains a cornerstone of their long-term success. Just as one wouldn't embark on a journey without a clear destination in mind, it's difficult to achieve success without well-defined goals. Goals provide a roadmap to the future and help students allocate their time and resources wisely.
We kindly request parents and caregivers to engage in meaningful conversations with their children about their goals. Your guidance and support play an essential role in helping them reach their aspirations.
Fostering Learning Success
As an AVID school, we are committed to nurturing academic excellence. Our teachers are dedicated to assisting students in mastering the Cornell note-taking system. To enhance learning at home, we encourage parents and caregivers to support their children by using the 10-24-7 method. This well-established approach, involving daily note review, question formulation, and weekly summarisation, significantly boosts student confidence and exam results, making it particularly crucial as we approach upcoming assessments.
Organisational skills are key to success. Students are encouraged to maintain well-organised binders that accompany them to all classes, ensuring that they have all the necessary materials readily available. We are excited to introduce "Ready to Learn Monday" led by our AVID Leader, Ms. Amy Cole, providing students with the opportunity to stock up on binder materials at the AVID Centre each week, ensuring they are always well-prepared for their learning journey.
Homework Club for Learning Support
A reminder to all parents and students that Wyndham Central College's Homework Club continues every Wednesday in the Monash Building from 3:10 pm to 4:00 pm. This invaluable resource is facilitated by experienced classroom teachers and provides critical support for students who self-nominate to attend. Whether your child faces challenges with classwork, assignments, or simply seeks a supportive environment to complete homework, our Homework Club offers the ideal space to thrive academically.
We urge parents to encourage their children to attend Homework Club, ensuring they benefit from this valuable support system.
Together, we can empower our students to set and achieve their goals, excel in their studies, and make the most of the resources available to them. Thank you for your ongoing support in fostering a culture of success at Wyndham Central College.
