End of Term
Well here we are, already at the end of the first half of the 2026 school year. This term there have been many special events including our special Mother's Day morning, Education Week, which included Maths and Literacy special morning activities as well as Silly Socks Day.
We also celebrated National Simultaneous Storytime with a shared reading of Luna Roo, which has proven to be a wonderful precursor to the current soccer world cup being played. Towards the end of term our grade 5/6 students had a wonderful time at their 3 day Doxa camp at Malmsbury, albeit a rather cold and damp experience.
This week all teaching teams have had a planning day in preparation for Term 3. There are already a range of special activities being planned, along with an intensive teaching and learning program for all year level. We will begin the term with a celebration of 100 days of school for our Foundation students. I am looking forward to sharing this event with all the students and teachers from Foundation A & B.
Final Assembly
A reminder that students will be dismissed for the end of term this Friday at 2:30pm. A whole school assembly will commence at 2:10pm where High Growth Certificates will be presented to students who have demonstrated accelerated levels of growth in reading, writing and mathematics this semester.
This is in recognition of their hard work, persistence and dedication to working hard.
Well done to all those students who will achieve their certificates at assembly.
Parent Teacher Conferences
Thank you to all the families who scheduled appointments and attended the Parent-Teacher conferences held on Tuesday and Wednesday this week. This was a great opportunity to discuss and celebrate your child/ren's achievements as represented in their Semester 1 report which was published on Monday.
Staffing
This week we say farewell to two of our valued staff members; Riya Dewedi, one of our hard working Education Support Staff members who began working with us last year supporting students across most of the classes as well as Dean Dray who has been in an acting Learning Specialist role supporting all of our teaching teams in many areas but particularly in English where he guided planning during PLT meetings as well as coaching every classroom teacher weekly in the teaching of reading and writing.
Both Riya and Dean have been dedicated and committed members of the Albion North staff who have made many contributions and had significant impact in their time at our school. On behalf of the whole school community I would like to wish them all the very best for their future endeavours.
I would like to wish everyone a safe and relaxing mid year break and look forward to welcoming everyone back to school on Monday 13th July.
As always, thank you for your ongoing support and involvement.
