Senior School

As we reach the conclusion of Term 2, it is wonderful to reflect on the continued commitment, growth and achievements demonstrated by our Senior School students. It has been another busy and productive term, with students embracing their learning, assessment opportunities, extracurricular involvement and the many experiences that contribute to life beyond the classroom.

Throughout the term, students have continued to demonstrate our College values of Respect, Resilience and Responsibility, with many being recognised through our Merit system for their positive contributions, commitment and engagement. It has also been pleasing to celebrate students through our E.P.I.C. awards, acknowledging those who consistently demonstrate excellent attendance by being present and engaged in every class, every period.

Attendance and Engagement

Attendance continues to be a key priority across the Senior School, with regular attendance playing an important role in supporting student achievement, learning progress and overall wellbeing. Establishing consistent routines, arriving on time and actively participating in classes allows students to maximise every opportunity available to them.

Thank you to families for your ongoing support in reinforcing the importance of attendance and punctuality. As we move into Term 3, we encourage all students to continue building positive habits and maintaining their commitment to their learning and engagement.

Assessment, Examinations and the GAT

This term has seen students complete a significant period of assessment, including Year 10 CAT Week, Year 10 and Year 11 examinations, as well as the General Achievement Test (GAT).

A significant milestone this term was the completion of the GAT, with over 190 students across the Senior School completing Part A and over 100 students completing Part B. This is a significant achievement and an important part of many students’ academic journey. We congratulate all students who undertook the GAT and acknowledge the preparation, focus and commitment required to complete this important assessment. We look forward to seeing the outcomes of these efforts later in the year and celebrating the progress students have made.

These assessment experiences have provided valuable opportunities for students to consolidate their learning, develop effective study habits and reflect on areas for continued growth. A reminder that feedback and results from these assessment tasks are an important part of the learning process. Students are encouraged to engage with teacher feedback, identify strategies for improvement and continue developing the skills required for future success.

Careers Expo and Senior School Information Evening

This term also provided valuable opportunities for students and families to engage in important conversations about future pathways through our Careers Expo and Senior School Information Evening.

These events were a wonderful opportunity to support both current Senior School students and future Senior School students by providing insight into the diverse range of pathway opportunities available to support students in achieving success. A particular highlight of the evening was the opportunity to showcase the breadth of VET course offerings available at the College for 2027, while also clarifying pathway requirements and the various options available to students as they plan for 2027.

The evening also provided an opportunity for students and families to receive course recommendation forms, ask questions and seek clarification ahead of the 2027 course selection process. We thank all families who attended and engaged in these important conversations, as informed decision-making plays a key role in ensuring students select pathways that align with their strengths, interests and future goals.

Work Experience

We are currently supporting our Year 10 students as they participate in Work Experience, providing them with a valuable opportunity to explore potential career pathways, gain insight into workplace environments and develop skills that extend beyond the classroom.

We wish all students undertaking Work Experience the very best and look forward to hearing about their experiences across a diverse range of workplaces, industries and career areas. We are excited to hear the stories, insights and learning that students bring back to school as they continue to explore their future pathways and build confidence in their next steps beyond school.

Senior School Celebration Assemblies

This term we also celebrated the achievements and successes of our Year 10–12 students through our Senior School Celebration Assemblies. These assemblies provided an opportunity to recognise students who have demonstrated outstanding endeavour in the classroom, as well as those who have achieved academic excellence across their subjects.

We were also proud to celebrate our top 10 Green Merit Award recipients at each year level, acknowledging students who have consistently demonstrated our College values through their commitment, effort and positive contributions to the school community.

Beyond the classroom, we recognised the achievements of our swimming champions and acknowledged students who have provided valuable service and support to our library. These celebrations highlight the diverse ways in which students contribute to our College and the many forms of success that should be recognised and celebrated.

Congratulations to all award recipients on their achievements. Your dedication, perseverance and commitment are a wonderful reflection of the values we strive to foster across the Senior School, and we are incredibly proud of your accomplishments.

Looking ahead to Term 3

As we prepare for Term 3, students are encouraged to continue approaching their studies with focus, organisation and a growth mindset. The second half of the year provides many important opportunities for students to continue building confidence, strengthening their learning habits and working towards their individual goals.

Families are reminded to continue checking weekly Year Level updates, Compass communications and other College correspondence to stay informed about important dates, expectations and opportunities throughout the term.

Thank you again to our Senior School students, families and staff for your continued support, commitment and partnership. I look forward to another successful term ahead and wish all students a safe and restful break.
