Swimming Program Term 3
- Grade 4 students will attend the swimming program on Thursday mornings in weeks 1-5. The buses will leave school at 8.50am and return at the start of recess.

🔬 STEM News
We are currently collecting recycled materials for our exciting Term 3 Science Projects in the STEM room. We would greatly appreciate donations of clean items such as plastic water bottles or soft drink bottles, shoe boxes, plastic lids, and cardboard tubing or paper rolls (please no toilet rolls).
Donations can be dropped off at the STEM room at any time. Thank you for your continued support in helping provide valuable hands-on learning opportunities for our students.

📖 Literacy
This term in Grade 4 we will be reading The Wild Robot. The Grade 4 students will develop both sentence-level and text-level writing skills through a persuasive writing unit. Students will learn how to use subordinating conjunctions, connectives for addition, contrast, and cause and effect, and expand simple sentences into more detailed complex sentences. They will practise summarising information using summary sentences and single paragraph outlines (SPO).
At the text level, students will identify the features of a persuasive letter and generate arguments related to whether a robot would be a good addition to a home. They will plan and write an introduction, develop two body paragraphs using clear evidence and reasoning, and create a strong conclusion. Throughout the unit, students will revise, edit, publish, and prepare their persuasive letters for reading aloud, while making connections to the themes, characters, and ideas explored in The Wild Robot.
🧠Knowledge Rich
This term in Knowledge Rich, students will be exploring Local Government. They will investigate how rules and laws help keep communities safe, fair and organised, while learning the difference between the two and why laws are created. Students will explore the three levels of Australian government and develop an understanding of the important role local councils play in supporting their communities. They will also learn how councillors are elected and how they make decisions that benefit the people they represent.
➗ Maths
This term in Mathematics, students will strengthen their understanding of multiplication and division by exploring the distributive and associative properties of multiplication, using the vertical algorithm to solve multiplication problems, and identifying numbers that are divisible by 2, 5 and 10. They will investigate angles by naming, comparing, estimating and classifying interior angles. Students will also develop their understanding of fractions by finding equivalent fractions, ordering fractions with related denominators, renaming division as fractions and converting fractions to decimals. In our Location unit, students will use grid references to read and create maps, as well as give and follow directions. Finally, students will extend their knowledge of decimals by partitioning numbers in standard and expanded form, and applying decimal understanding to financial and measurement contexts.
🌿 Wellbeing
This term in Respectful Relationships, students will explore Gender Norms and Stereotypes. They will examine how gender stereotypes can influence the way people think, behave and make choices, and discuss how these stereotypes can affect individuals and communities. Students will learn to challenge unfair assumptions, recognise and appreciate diversity, and understand that everyone should feel free to pursue their interests, strengths and goals regardless of gender. Through discussions and collaborative activities, students will develop empathy, respect and inclusive attitudes that support positive relationships and a sense of belonging for all.
