Swimming Reminders
As we begin our swimming program, please ensure your child:
- Comes to school with their bathers already on underneath their school uniform.
- Brings a towel.
- Brings a waterproof bag for wet bathers.
- Brings a spare pair of shoes e.g crocs, thongs.
- Packs a change of underwear and socks (or any clothing worn underneath their school uniform).
We are currently collecting recycled materials for our exciting Term 3 Science Projects in the STEM room. We would greatly appreciate donations of clean items such as plastic water bottles or soft drink bottles, shoe boxes, plastic lids, and cardboard tubing or paper rolls (please no toilet rolls).
Donations can be dropped off at the STEM room at any time. Thank you for your continued support in helping provide valuable hands-on learning opportunities for our students.
Looking ahead to Term 3!
Welcome back to Term 3! We are so excited to welcome everyone back and hope you all enjoyed a relaxing and enjoyable break over the school holidays. We look forward to another exciting term filled with engaging learning experiences, new challenges, and plenty of opportunities for students to grow and succeed.
📖 Literacy
This term, students will begin our literature study of Charlotte’s Web by E.B. White. This timeless story follows Wilbur, a young pig who forms an unlikely friendship with a wise and caring spider named Charlotte. Through Charlotte’s kindness and determination to save Wilbur, students will explore important themes such as friendship, loyalty, courage, and compassion.
Throughout the term, students will develop their writing skills by focusing on sentence expansion, sentence combining, summary writing, sentence types, and the effective use of conjunctions. During our text-level writing lessons, students will plan, draft, edit, and publish their own narratives, with an initial focus on developing engaging characters and vivid settings.
🧠Knowledge Rich
This term, the Grade 3 students will begin their Knowledge Rich unit on Modern Democracy. Throughout the unit, students will develop an understanding of how rules and laws help keep communities safe, fair, and inclusive. They will explore the key features of democracy, including fairness, freedom, equality, and participation, and discover how Australia has changed over time to become a more inclusive society. Students will also learn about the important role citizens play in their communities and the many ways they can actively participate to make a positive difference.
➗ Maths
Throughout the term, students will explore a range of mathematical concepts and problem-solving strategies. We will begin with a focus on multiplication and division, using bar models to represent equations and solve a variety of word problems. Students will then investigate angles, telling the time, and identifying and describing the properties of 3D objects. To conclude the term, we will revisit addition and subtraction strategies, building students' confidence and fluency when solving increasingly complex calculations.
🌿Wellbeing
During Term 3, students will participate in a range of wellbeing lessons through our Friendology and 4Rs programs. We will begin the term by exploring positive coping strategies to help students manage strong emotions, including ways to regulate angry feelings and the importance of making sincere apologies. Throughout the term, students will also enjoy participating in their Circle sessions, which provide opportunities to build positive relationships, develop communication skills, and strengthen our school community.
