1st May George at Mordialloc College and his teacher is Mr. Jason Liacos
George who studies VET Music Performance at Mordialloc College and his band treated family and friends to a night of music. My best song was Let It Be by the Beatles done in George’s own style. George does his work placement every Friday with SKY Music which he is enjoying.
Vocational Major students not currently doing a SBAT will be looking for Structured Work placements (20 days) in Terms 2 and 3 particularly related to their VET Subject. If they attend their VET program on a Wednesday, they must do their Structured Work Placement on a Friday or vice versa. Year 12 students will undertake a block of Structured Work Placement from 11th to 14th June.
Year 10 students
Work Experience is coming up from 24th to 28th June and our students are eager to get their forms back but they might need support from family members who are employed and whose employers are willing to give our students an opportunity into the world of work.
On 18th April 2024, Natalie Tenardi and Kathy Bakopoulos (Career Development Consultants from Mas National) had the pleasure to share Industry Information and examples of current opportunities available to Women In male dominated Industries with our Vocational Year 11 & 12 female students at Westall SC.
The students were a pleasure to work with and we hope they have walked away with more insight to industries and employment opportunities available to them.
Our students listened attentively and asked/answered questions and the survey at the end, where they ticked two jobs that would suit their interests. Well done students!
Kathy and Natalie mentioned that 3% of women in Australia are employed in Trades, hence there is a big push from the Victorian Govt. for female apprentices. They covered Fair work practices and where to get support, having the right attitude to work, attendance and punctuality at work, risks associated with mobile phone use and wrong use of social media.
Thanks to Mr. McIntosh, Mr. Bottomley, Mr. Smith and Miss Donna for giving our students this opportunity.

Our expert Careers Coordinator, Ms Borgonha is always advocating for the best Career options for our VCE students. This year the Year 11 students were given the opportunity to attend the 2024 VCE and Careers Expo at the Exhibition Centre in Melbourne, on the 3rd of May.
The VCE and Careers Expo is the most comprehensive and exciting careers event in Australia. The expo encompasses all career opportunities from employment to education and training in the trades, corporate and professional sectors.
The VCE and Careers Expo showcased over 150 exhibitors and was be held between Thursday the 2nd of May to Saturday the 4th of May 2024. The venue’s doors opened at 9am. The Melbourne Exhibition Centre quickly filled with hundreds of VCE students from all over Melbourne. Students darted from one exhibitor to the next to ensure they were equipped with brochures, course information booklets and of course, free merchandise!
The VCE and Careers Expo offered free seminars daily on a variety of VCE subjects and tertiary courses. Westall Secondary College students were the best behaved by far, and to celebrate we had almost a one hundred per cent attendance. A huge applause to Mr Gropel! Thank you to all the staff that kept the day in check, Ms Papagiannopoulos, Ms Nadia Papagiannopoulos, Boomi, Ms Ifandis, Mr Pham and Ms Geraldine.
