The boys' badminton team has brought great pride to the school by securing first place in the Senior Round Robin Badminton tournament. Their exceptional performance throughout the competition was a display of remarkable skill, teamwork, and sportsmanship.
From the first serve to the final match point, each player demonstrated outstanding athleticism and dedication. This hard-earned victory is a testament to their persistent efforts and commitment during practice sessions. Winning this tournament has earned the team a place in the regional games in Term 3, where they will undoubtedly continue to shine.
Our girls' badminton team also put up a valiant effort, showing impressive skills and determination. Though they faced tough competition, their perseverance and sportsmanship were commendable, and they have laid a strong foundation for future success.
The entire school community is thrilled with both teams' achievements and looks forward to supporting them as they prepare for the next level of competition. Congratulations to all our players on their fantastic efforts.
Let's all cheer them on as they aim for even greater success in the regional games! Go team!
Cross Country
As the term progresses, our school's athletic endeavours have showcased the determination of our students across various sports disciplines. This term, the spotlight falls on cross-country. This was held on the 29th of April, where our Year 7-11 students gathered to run 3 to 5 km. With 23 students advancing to the next stage, to compete at the district's cross country.
We eagerly anticipate the forthcoming Southern Metro Regional finals in May, where our cross-country runners are going to leave their mark on the trails once again. Thank you to everyone who participated in this year's cross country at Westall Secondary.
Intermediate Soccer - Round Robin Day
This term, our school's sporting prowess has once again shone brightly, this time on the soccer field. On the 2nd of May, 16 boys eagerly made their way to Caulfield Park to represent our school in a fiercely contested soccer competition. The day was filled with adrenaline-pumping matches, as our boys showcased their skills and determination against teams from various Secondary Colleges in the South-East region, including Bentleigh, Sandringham, Parkdale, and Mordialloc. Despite the competition, our young athletes exhibited impressive performances.
As the sun beamed down on Caulfield Park, our boys displayed unwavering commitment and sportsmanship throughout the tournament. It was evident that weeks of training had prepared them well for the challenges ahead. With each match they fought and represented our school with pride and determination. The boys emerged from each game with heads held high, knowing they had given their all. While they may have missed out on advancing to the finals and regionals, we couldn't be prouder of their outstanding efforts and the outstanding spirit they displayed on the field. Great job, boys!
Senior Soccer - Round Robin Day
In the thrilling realm of school sports, our senior boys once again took centre stage, this time on the soccer field. On the 16th of May, a squad of 17 boys eagerly made their way to Aspendale Gardens Reserve, ready to test their mettle in a highly anticipated soccer competition. The event brought together all opponents from the Secondary schools within the area such as Brighton, McKinnon, Parkdale, and Mordialloc. From the outset, it was shown that the day would be filled with intense competition and spirited performances.
Throughout the tournament, they faced tough matches. However, amidst the challenges, our boys exhibited remarkable improvement, showcasing their growth and resilience with every game. Though the day concluded without securing a spot in the finals or regionals the boys gave it their best and we couldn’t be prouder. Overall, it was a day of triumphs, challenges, and unforgettable moments. Great job, boys!

Badminton wins last week
Congratulations to all the badminton teams at our wonderful school. Did you know that we have 85 students playing competitions in term 2 and beyond. Below are the teams that have currently qualified for the next round of matches.
There is more to come. The Westall Way is alive and well embedded in the sports attitude of our players. We encourage our players to follow strong values, such as:
At the moment, everyone is training hard but also enjoying the social benefits of practice or play. Recently the intermediates finished their campaign at the District Gala Day. Everyone did well. I was so pleased with their attitude and the roles they played within each team. Every team has a maximum of 6 players and all these players are ranked according to their ability. This information is given to the organizer on the day to ensure that rankings are fair. Girls A team played against McKinnon Secondary in the final and defeated them 6 to 0 matches. They play 4 singles, and 2 doubles matches. The boys were just as valiant in their efforts, losing to McKinnon Secondary after leading 2 to 1 in the initial stages. The championship girls’ team is:
