CREATIVE ARTS NEWS: LUME - LEONARDO DA VINCI EXHIBITION MELBOURNE CONVENTION CENTRE

The year 11 and 12 Art Making and Exhibiting students visited LUME at the Melbourne Convention Centre on the 7th of May. The students were taken through an inspiring journey of Leonardo Da Vinci’s life, with original pages from the master’s notebooks, and machine inventions.

AI and VI technologies breathed life into his iconic works. The interactive experience of Da Vinci’s art world was one that has inspired students to enhance their own presentation ideas, and challenge the notion of ‘art should be framed’.

On display was the only 360 degrees replica of the Mona Lisa, the students were so excited to see this iconic painting on display.

The original sketches of Da Vinci’s work demonstrated the life of a genius not only in the development of his drawings and paintings, but also his brilliant costume designs, musical instruments, mechanical  and engineering systems.

The students were given the opportunity to draw like the artist in the LUME artists’ studio space, as well as to experience the space from the artists’ perspective. A room that replicated his studio.

To complete the day, students had their very own AI drawing done by the genius himself. This was a vertical kiosk that stood at the exit of the gallery, where you could ‘strike a pose’ in view of an inbuilt camera, in 30 seconds a vintage drawing of you was created – Leonado Da Vinci style!

TOP ARTS 2024 and TRIENNIAL EXHIBITION – NATIONAL GALLERY OF AUSTRALIA and INTERNATIONAL GALLERY OF AUSTRALIA

The year 11 and 12 Art Making and Exhibiting students visited the Ian Potter Centre in March this year to view the TOP A+ artworks from Year 12 students from 2023. The exhibition showcased excellence in art making and folio development. The students were privileged to view the visual arts journals, and were in absolute awe, at the commitment involved in developing and sequencing art making.

The exhibition was an opportunity to inspire the students in their own art making journey, from the making and presenting point of view. The main focus for the day was ‘how can I achieve excellence, in my art making journey this year’.

The Triennial Exhibition at the International Australian Gallery was an ‘eye opener’ of our world today! Students viewed 100 hundred extraordinary projects, 120 artists, and designers of global contemporary practice. It was a platform of a ‘powerful and moving portrait of our world today’.
