Principal's News

Dear Parents and Carers,

This week we celebrate Catholic Education Week in our Ballarat Diocese. The theme this year is “Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.”

Our school will be attending Mass to mark the occasion on Wednesday at 10:00am. The children from St Mary’s, St Brendan’s and the leaders from Trinity College will join us at Church. Our plan is to give the children the opportunity to enjoy recess at St Mary’s with our neighbours, depending upon the weather.

Also a special mention to one of our long time staff members, Lesley Pearce. Lesley was recognised this week by our Diocese for 30 years of continuous service to Catholic Education, all of it at Sacred Heart School. A great effort. On behalf of all the children and staff that Lesley has supported,  “Thank You.”

SCHOOL CLOSURE Parents should please note that our school will be closed this Friday, May 10th. Our entire staff will be attending a day of Personal and Professional Development identified during our most recent whole school review. My apologies for any inconvenience caused however this kind of development for our staff is important in keeping us at the top of our game.

MOTHER’S DAY STALL This coming Sunday is Mother’s Day, of course. Our Parents and Friends groups have organised a fantastic opportunity for our students to purchase a gift for Mum on Wednesday and Thursday of this week. Children need to bring $5 to school on these days to buy something for Mum.

ANDREW CHINN CONCERT Andrew Chinn has been writing, recording and performing Christian music, books and other content to support our Catholic curriculum for over 20 years. He has visited our school twice before and I am very happy to report that he is returning on Thursday May 16th. Our students are very familiar with many of his songs.

Andrew will spend the day with us performing and teaching before hosting a whole school concert after lunch to which parents are warmly invited.

The concert will begin at 2:15pm and be held in our courtyard/Multipurpose space. Andrew is always a lot of fun.

FOUNDATION ENROLMENTS FOR 2025

Thank you to those parents who have completed our survey regarding enrolling a younger sibling in Foundation for 2025. This survey has now closed, please call at the front office if you require an Enrolment form.

Enrolment Applications are due by Friday June 14th. This will allow us time to finalise, as far as possible, classes for 2025.

WELLBEING SURVEY Can I draw your attention to a Wellbeing survey we are conducting using the School TV platform. My thanks to our Wellbeing Leader, Julie for organising this survey which we hope will better inform us of the needs in our student community in order that we target and prioritise support where it is most needed.

The survey can be accessed via the link on the Wellbeing page of today’s newsletter.
