ACPS has got Talent!

What a delightful time I've had watching so many great acts by ourtalented students. The way your children got behind each other to cheer their peers on and the wide eyes as they discovered new talents from each other was precious. There were acts of comedy, magic tricks, calisthenics, piano, guitar, keytar, puppet plays, 'dancing from my heart', hip hop, gymastics, groovy moves and so much more. It also gave great opportunities to talk about preparation, nerves, resilience and improvisation. I was so proud of every performer and every encouraging audience member. Here are some memories...

PREPS - ONES- TWOS

GRADE THREE - FOUR

GRADE FIVE-SIX

And all that JAZZ

This term we are exploring different genres of music and what we enjoy listening too. One fun fact we learnt was that "Pop" music is short for "Popular" and that Opera singers used to project their voices to fill concert halls by building up their diaphragm muscles rather than using microphones. This week we learnt that Jazz icon Ella Fitzgerald was discovered at 17 after winning a talent show (she was going to dance but decided to sing instead) and how 'scatting' is a distinctive part of Jazz music.

Shrek Jr Production - June 21-23

Just a friendly reminder to keep practising songs and Emerald/Jade parts with your children. We are up to stage position plotting and choreography which is made much easier for kids if they are confident with lyrics. Grabbing 10 mins in the car on an ipad, waiting for sports training, whilst dinner is cooking etc can really make a difference.

The SHREK PRODUCTION FOLDER includes soundtracks for students to practise at home.

Next TUES MAY 14 (School hours): Next Tuesday we are having Parent Teacher Interviews and an alternate program will be running for all students 9-3:30pm. We are making use of this to fit in some extra Shrek rehearsal time 9-11am in the theatre for all cast and crew.

Dont forget June 11 Curriculum day is also a full cast/crew rehearsal day where we are able to run through the full show on that day a couple of times.

Thanks to all the Parent/Grandparent/Carer hands on deck at the moment with costumes, props and set design. Your time and creativity is really so appreciated. Closer to the event we will ask for volunteers for Performance night help with costume changes, catering etc. Stay tuned.

As always, any queries or concerns please let me know,
