Foundation (Prep)

English

Reading, writing and inquiry lessons were interwoven to explore how our body works. We have been reading information books to gather information and answer some of our class questions. The class then focused on bones in particular, to discuss what we had learnt in our reading and then write some facts we found interesting.

We focused on the correct formation of the lower and uppercase letter Bb in handwriting.

Miles brought in anatomy books, a bull's skull and some x-rays for us to explore. It helped bring the topic to life and generated some awesome discussion.

Maths

This week the students have been introduced to Addition. Basic addition is introduced using numbers up to 10. To aid in learning, students start with counting and adding concrete/physical objects, then move to visual or pictorial representations of numbers, and then begin working with numerical symbols.

Most of us are currently working with pictures and/or blocks and are using numbers up to 10. However, students who have prior knowledge of addition or have picked up the concept quickly, are now being challenged with larger numbers.

Cross Country

I want to congratulate all of the Prep students for their efforts on our school cross country day. It was our first excursion off the school grounds and the class were responsible walking over to the oval, and everyone had a go at participating in the events. A big thank you to our buddies for supporting us in the big run around the oval.

Happy Mother's Day to the wonderful mums in our school community.

Thank you for all that you do. 💐
